Acne affects so many people at some point in their life, and while some cases are very mild and clear up after a couple of months, some people really suffer badly with severe acne that doesn't seem to want to either respond to treatment or go away. There is a wide range of treatments available for acne, mainly in the form of acne remedy skin preparatations, however there also the possibility to try acne laser treatment.

Traditional, and some say the best acne treatment tend to rely on harsh chemicals such as benzoyl peroxide to try and strip away oil and kill bacteria, which can lead to dry, itchy skin and sometimes redness and inflamed areas where the skin is too sensitive to take the chemicals. The other option is to take a long course of antibiotics, sometimes lasting for 6 to 8 months in the hope that it will cure acne. Antibiotics will kill off the friendly bacteria in our bodies too, which can lead to upset stomachs and generally feeling pretty wiped out, especially if taken for an extended period of time.

Acne lasers are the latest in acne treatments and don't involve any harsh chemicals or lengthy antibiotic courses. While the process may not be particularly pleasant, it has certainly proved to be effective in the treatment of acne. There are many different types of laser that can be used in acne treatment, but only a few of them have proved succesful. It may take more than one session of laser treatment to acheive optimum results, but there will be a noticeable improvement after the first session in most cases. The laser treatment itself isn't painful, but can feel uncomfortable, some have likened it to having hot water splashed on their face, or being stung. This is due to the heat the laser generates as it treats the skin. Temporary redness and some swelling is common immediately following treatment however this will subside, usually in a matter of hours. Your doctor will tell you exactly what to expect prfior to carrying out your treatment and can show you pictures to give you an idea of the type of after effects you can expect in the initial hours after treatment.

Many people have had their acne successfully treated using acne laser treatment and would readily recommend it to anyone struggling to cure their acne using medication. The discomfort is minimal, and while some aftercare is necessary it is well worth it for the amazing results that can be acheived using this method.
