Facebook ads - do they work?

Does clickbank work on Facebook ads?

I decided to try something out. With my $200 in free Facebook credits for ads, I thought, hmm, what should I advertise?

I thought - I've got it, 6 pack E-books. You know, the truth about abs, getting ripped, having that sexy and flat stomach you always dreamed of. People must fall for these, right?  I mean, they wouldn't exist if people didn't make money off of them?

Well, I thought I would give it a shot. First ad I made got denied - text was misleading, picture was revealing and the ad landing page wasn't appropriate. Boy, this is going to be harder than I thought.  Next I changed the picture, the ad text and everything else. Still not approved. No matter what I tried, anything to do with abs was denied. Good for Facebook I thought - but how do I constantly still see these cheesy ads still running in my Facebook account? How did they slip thought the cracks?

No matter. I've got a plan B. Promote online streaming videos and tv through Clickbank. Oh yeah, this is it. $22 per sale.  Easy I thought. Sure enough, my ad was approved by Facebook ads, even with the Clickbank "hop-link" included. I didn't even have a website, I was directly reffering people to the publisher's website.  This is going to work!

I set out with the demographics of Men between 25-60 in the US. Lots of numbers and impressions for around .30 a click. Not bad. If I can convert even a small percentage it will be a success.

After over a million impressions and 400 clicks, I went to my clickbank account. Someone must have bought a membership to the online streaming site. I mean, the website was very attractive with samples and everything to hook people in.

NO SALES. Zip, Nada, Nilch. Not even a sniff. My clickbank account registered all 400 clicks but no sales. WOW! How effective is that?  I wondered if they were even real people going to check out this site - or are they just really cheap and educated?

I wonder how anyone makes money or even makes it worth their while to advertise on Facebook.  You would have to have something really attention grabbing, instant gratification, and that appeals to a wide demographic.

Do you have any comments on your Facebook ads experience? Make any money off your affiliate sites???  I'd be interested to find out.

I guess Facebook ads is still good for promoting established bands and contests etc. but I wouldn't recommend trying it for a quick buck. Conversions are very disspointing.

Just on the net today looking at blog posts about Facebook ads - most people seem to be saying the same thing. My site is new and still being customized. I have a CTR of .02% BUT Facebook only runs my ads when they want to so the traffic I desire isnt really showing up

Recently, I tried to setup truth about abs ad on facebook. The ad was denied every time with every changes I did. Nothing helped me to get the approval.

However, after seeing your post and with some quick research, I found out facebook has truthaboutabs group page and the website allows its users to become fan.

It implies whenever any facebook user goes to truthaboutabs website and makes a purchase, facebook or someone may get the referral. I see no other explanation to your claim of 400 clicks with zero commission on clickbank!

In the competitive dog-eat-dog internet business world, who knows what kind of closed door deals are struck between powerful internet players. Finally, only unsuspecting, simple thinking affiliates could get no place to earn a decent living.

Disclaimer: I have nothing against any of the players mentioned above. I am only deducing from the facts that I obtained online. Do excuse any omissions or misguided information.

Same here. Buttload of advertising for the buck (supposedly) and a fair amount of responses to ads (again, supposedly). But, absolutely no results.

Are the statistics being fabricated?

My first thought was that the followed ad links were setup - someone paid to look for and click on every ad they could find. Then I thought, "Nah!" It would be easier and no more underhanded to just make up the numbers. And we'd still never know the difference.

Or is there a misconception about the followed links?

What if all of the "clicks" were accidental?

I'd almost be willing to shell out some bucks to test that theory by setting up a page link that is nothing more than one of those "Are you sure?" type pages. It could say, "Are you sure? The advertisement you just clicked on will take you to the advertiser's web site. If this what you intended to do, confirm by clicking yes."

If my theory is correct, there should be a significant number of results (about 50% of the supposed "clicks") that actually answer by pressing the "No" button. The rest will just close the new window.

On the other hand, if my theory is incorrect and there are no reults of anyone answering "No", then the "clicks" results are completely artificial. Either way, we find out where the "clicks" came from.

Anyone want to bankrole this little test?

I recently signed up for fb ads. Seemed to be getting lots of clicks but strangely enough my website was not reporting anywhere near the same amount of visits nor my statcounter. i wrote to FB and they replied clicks do not correspond to page visits. Hmmmm, thought that was the point. Confused!
