If it makes you look and feel better about yourself, I say go for it! Lets keep it real. Everybody from Oprah Winfrey to Paris Hilton and even Jennifer Lopez have admitted to wearing some type of hair extensions. I don't see what the big deal is. I look at extensions as just that, an extension of how I want to present myself that day. You pick and choose what clothes or makeup you want to wear, so why not pick and choose what hairstyle you want to wear (even if it isn't your "real" hair)?
If you don't know how to do-it-yourself, ask your friends or family that may have had some type of extensions before to recommend someone to you. As long as you take care of your natural hair while wearing them, it is completely safe. There are so many different options to choose from these days. You can get synthetic (man made) or human hair, which has a ton more options in itself. You get what you pay for ladies. The better quality the more expensive the hair is.
Extensions can be glued in, sewn in or even clipped in. Wigs are worn over your entire head and your edges are left out when you wear a fall. You can even buy a ponytail to pin over your natural one. It's fun to switch it up every now and again!
Chris Rock's "Good Hair"
Actor/Comedian Chris Rock has co-written a entertaining yet remarkably, serious documentary called "Good Hair", that talks about the lengths that African-American women will go to for their hair. He says that he decided to do the movie because his daughter Lola asked him "Daddy how come I don't have good hair?" Chris rock interviewed celebrities such as Nia Long, Kerry Washington, Maya Angelou, Ice-T and even Rev. Al Sharpton to ask about them about their hair.
Director Jeff Stilson followed Rock around as he visited hair salons, barber shops, hair show battles, scientific laboratories and Indian Temples to research how hair affects everyday living, budgets, self-esteem and personal relationships of African-American women. This movie is sure to a hit at the box office.
