Does Latest Collection Mean Coolest Collection

Why Do We Need Fashion?
Have you seen the movie equilibrium?
The movie is around a world where all feelings and sense are pacified and everyone try to live by pure logic. Everyone wears the same dress, lives in the same kind of houses, drives the same kind of car, speaks the same way, and has the same view on everything. Anyone who might happen to have feelings for anything, will be killed. That is the perfect example of trying to defeat nature by being a part of it. Emotions are what have helped us survive to this day. How does it relate to latest=coolest? What we wear invariably affects the way we feel about ourselves. I dont't want to go into the details of why. I am sure you agree. When we look good, we feel good - we need good clothing.
I am not yet treading the area of "I have what you don't have" as yet.
Must You Keep Up With The "trends"
Suppose I make 5 really good t shirts models and everybody buys all 5 types. I will be very rich. Today.
I have no way of feeding myself next year as I will have spent all my money. Here 'I' is the clothing manufacturer.
What do I do?Create this illusion in the minds of young naive people that if you don't keep up with what I am going to create in the next fashion season, you are somehow of lower social stature.
This message is delivered by really good looking people on ads with really cocky sentences. The not as good looking people who form approximately 90% of the people seeing those ads are emotionally manipulated into buying those as facts.
Some of these people need the latest fashion in order to feel good about themselves because of social conditioning, peer pressure etc.
These people live to feed the clothing and other fashion-related companies. In a indirect and distant way, they work for the fashion companies!

Thanks for this piece... I was driving around marveling at all of the teens and those coming into their 20s, even some in my age range, who wear such clothes that to me, it appears they are hiding. Now, of course that's my opinion and I do recall a unique dress myself during those earlier years. Just wondered what others, and maybe even one who dresses in that style, would have to say. I do appreciate your attention to the fashion trend from a manufacturer's point of view - sometimes I forget how very powerful the psychology all of that really is!
I'm so comfortable in my mother wear, after 31 years in this body, I have found the perfect outfit for me - trend or no trend. Of course there are all types out there, and many people do like to keep up with the current trends. It's nice you've exposed the matter behind the trend in the event someone reads who didn't realize it's just *someone else* telling them what to wear...
