Does Taking Pills Lead To Better Health?
52It seems like the vast majority of the population nowadays wants a magic pill. I even see it all the time with my online business. When I teach others how to make money online, many people want to do one magic little simple thing that will earn them a pile of money. There is no magic pill to earning money online.
It seems our society is addicted to pills.
When are we going to stop running to a doctor to get a prescription every time we (or our children) have sniffle or pang to get that 'magic pill' that ALWAYS manages to have a side effect worse than the original symptom?
Has it ever occurred to you the "big business" element of modern medicine would like to treat the symptoms rather than cure you of the illness? From a strictly business perspective, if they cure you, they are hurting their business because you will not need their products and services. Whereas, if they merely mask your symptoms you will continually need their products because you haven't been cured of you illness. For this reason, my opinion is that we do not have a "health care" system in the United States, we have a "sick care" system.
Now let me state that I have immense respect for most medical doctors and health practitioners who have devoted their lives to trying to help and heal their fellow man. They are on the front lines doing the best that they can with what they have been taught.
However, the mega insurance companies, the all-to-powerful pharmaceutical companies, the "big business" of medicine - they can go away any day now and I believe we‘d all be much better off. When corporate profits supersedes the importance of life, it's time to make some drastic changes.
I have seen how the major pharmaceutical companies have influenced what is taught in med school with their multiple million dollar contributions.
In my humble opinion, the desire for more and more corporate profits have caused us as a nation to have thrown the baby out with the bathwater. With the advent of 'science', all of a sudden everything our ancestors did and believed in the realm of healing was all of a sudden labeled 'superstition' and ineffective 'folk medicine.' The only solution to the vast majority of our health problems is a pill.
When my children were growing up, if I felt they needed medical attention, I didn't hesitate to get it for them. Certainly, the medication they received when they had an ear infection helped them fight the infection and return to good health. But, if I could keep them healthy in the first place with natural therapies, herbs, vitamins, good nutrition and treat them at home in the same manner successfully, I did that.
I don't believe in magic pills.
