Are You Stuck In A Poverty Mindset?

Finding that money really got me thinking and I have never forgotten it.

It had only been a few weeks since we purchased the new home and we were busy making plans on how to update the old farm house to accommodate our busy family of four.

We had been charmed by the Victorian details and while the house needed a lot of tender loving care, we were strongly drawn to the potential we could see with our imagination.

We decided to start in the master bedroom and eagerly dug into peeling the many layers of wallpaper clinging to the ancient walls. We put on an oldies recording and doo-wopped ourselves around the room.

As I pried the old grate off the radiator, I noticed a blue velvet bag tucked behind the heating coils. My heart skipped a beat as I reached for it. What was in it? How long had it been there?

Being a Nancy Drew fan from eons ago, I thrilled with the hint of a mysterious former tenant of the house leaving a treasure behind. Tugging the gold string that held the bag closed, I poured the contents out on the floor. Out tumbled a newspaper clipping, a pair of gold colored earrings and a bundle of money tied with a piece of twine.

I reached for the money and untied the twine. Five new but old hundred dollar bills fanned open in my hands. I glanced at the newspaper clipping. It was an obituary dated October 29, 1935. "Margaret Henneman passed away at her home today at the age of 83."

I was filled with questions? Who left this money here? Were they planning to come back for it someday? Did someone forget it was here? Has it been sitting here since 1935? Biggest of all, why in the world would someone squirrel away $500 in a decrepit radiator?

We decided to save the money for something special as we celebrated our good fortune at our sudden windfall. But why? Why did someone choose to treat money in this way?

FREEZE FRAME

Is it possible that our grandparents and great grandparents could be influencing our ability to attract and enjoy money?

Are the fears and doubts about the reliability of money to be there when you need it to be rooted in the financial distress in our family history?

Does your great grandma have her hand in your wallet?

For many of us, there is a huge gap between the state of financial restriction we are currently living in and the financial freedom we so deeply desire. Why is this and what can we do about it?

Ask yourself these questions:

How often do you worry about money?

Do you ever resent paying taxes?

How much credit card debt do you have?

Do I feel trapped by your credit card debt?

Is there anyone you can trust to talk about your money problems?

Are your financial concerns constantly running through your mind?

Do you wish you knew how to manage your money better but you just don't know where to turn?

While it is obvious that you have inherited some wonderful family traits like beautiful blue eyes, musical talent, sense of humor, passion for the arts or a grand work ethic, there is also a very good chance that you have also inherited a strong fear or even aversion to wealth and abundance.

Could this be you?

If you can't get ahead financially no matter what you do, you could be living out the fears put into place by the same attitude that led our mystery lady to hide that money in the radiator.

EFT is perfect for this project. As you allow for old thought patterns to surface, the tapping protocol helps you to see a new perspective on the family patterns that have shaped you.

Try This Tapping Script

Following the Tapping Map found here:

Begin Tapping:

Karate Chop Point: (repeat 3 times) Even though there was a lot of fear and anxiety about money in my childhood, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Eyebrow: I used to hate how my parents fought about money.

Side of Eye: They always told me that they couldn't afford to buy me the things I wanted.

Under Eye: I feel deprived now even thinking about it!

Under Nose: I missed out on a lot of opportunities because there wasn't enough money

Chin: I wonder why money caused so much friction in my family.

CollarBone: I never felt comfortable with money.

Underarm: I still don't feel comfortable with financial matters.

Top of head: I would love to change that.

Eyebrow: Just because they were all stressed, doesn't mean I need to be.

Side of Eye: Just because they fought and struggled about money, doesn't mean I need to.

Under Eye: What if I chose for myself?

Under Nose: What if I decided to accept that money is ok and that I used have many misunderstandings about it.

Chin: What if it isn't money's fault that I used to feel so anxious about it?

Collar Bone: What if I could learn to feel more comfortable with money?

Under Arm: What if I could actually enjoy money?

Top of Head: I like that idea. Who made up my family's belief system anyway? What if I could create my own beliefs about money?

Take A Deep Breath

See what you are aware of? Did any memories come up around your childhood experiences with money? Each memory that surfaces may have one or two "tappable issues."

Follow the script again and subsititute some of the memories and feelings that come up for you. EFT is easy to personalize!

Don't get all perfectionistic with it. Just relax and give it a try!

It is possible for you to create a new, powerful and personal belief system about money and EFT will help you get there.

What a great story, Catherine! And an interesting technique.

Is the idea for anyone who wants to do this to start tapping each place with those particular questions in mind, or were those the things that came up for you while you were tapping, and people should try to start tapping with a blank mind instead?

Thanks for the good word, Amy! I appreciate your comments. I sense the script as I go along, much as I do in a class or session. When several people are on a call, all tapping with one volunteer being led through representing the group, amazing clearing happens for everyone.

If the words resonate, then you can just tap on the statements as is. It is fun to "go off" and do a stream of consciousness sort of thing. The intuition can be very quick getting to the bottom of things!

The most productive tapping time for me is when I am experiencing a strong feeling, usually anger or fear. I then speak what I am thinking and tap myself through it, until I feel relief.

EFT is amazingly reliable for helping me find the sweet relief that keeps me hanging in there!

Tap, tap, tap!Catherine
