Does anyone here write on helium? What is your personal opinion? Have you went to submit articles and had it tell you...
54Helium (My Opinion)
I write for Helium. It is a great place such as HubPages to share your own personal topics and stories or to write for the Marketplace which allows you to make some cash if your work is chosen. There are different avenues you can take your writing to. It's a great way to get discovered for other markets outside of Helium, as a matter of fact I was offered to write for an online magazine, unfortunately I wasn't interested in the topics but I was excited to be recognized. So Helium has potential for you as a writer!
As far as writing goes, sometimes your work can disappear if there is no activity for a long period of time. Sometimes it can take a long time to write especially if you are doing research at the same time. I have been very disappointed when I've lost work that I worked so diligently and so hard on. So what I do now, is I open up Microsoft Works and create the article there first and then copy it over to Helium. I'm assured that way that I won't lose my work.
Overall I've been satisfied, I love challenges because it makes me a better writer. I've yet to discover all the opportunities within Helium. I wish you the best!

I agree that the marketplace within Helium has more of an earning potential than simply writing articles. The payout for writing articles is not exactly huge, but in the midst of writing them, there stands the chance to be discovered for writing projects outside of Helium. This can be huge! There have been several Helium writers offered those opportunities. Furthermore, I believe that it greatly depends on your goals as a writer when choosing to write for an online writing site. Sometimes it's not money based. It could simply be the opportunity to share your creativity and get others opinions or constructive criticism.
There are a lot of great writers within Helium, and I feel very priviledged to have them as a challenge. Personally, it makes me a better writer. However; if you are looking to earn money with Helium, it could be a very slow process. As you stated there are definitely better places to write for income.
I wrote a Hub on this which states my views in greater detail

I do think it's important to be specific about earnings when reviewing any online writing site. Based on my own experience and research, it's very rare to average more than 10 cents per article per month on Helium. It's true some people earned hundreds during the Rewardathon, but that's because they wrote hundreds of articles - the maximum payout was $3 per article!
I would advise any writer to write ONLY for Marketplace, where you stand to make a one-off payout and have the potential to do further work direct with the publishers. Don't waste your time writing articles for the rest of the site - there are much better places to write for passive income (including HubPages). I've written a Hub explaining in more detail.
