Carbohydrates

So many people have asked, ‘Does cutting carbohydrates make me lose weight?’. In order to answer this question, we need to understand how carbohydrates is used up in our body. A huge chunk of the body’s carbohydrate serves as a fuel, as a source of energy. Most cells in the body meet their energy requirement from these carbohydrates and also from fats, but there are certain cells in the body which relies almost entirely on carbohydrates (blood cells, nerve cells).

So what happens to excess carbohydrates in the body? They are turned into fat, and conversely, fat is converted to sugar (glucose) when the sugar level in our body gets too low to meet our energy needs. This explains why the consumption of starchy and sugary foods have a pronounce effect on body weight. But, there’s a catch. Since carbohydrates does help you gain weight, does that mean by cutting carbohydrates will make you lose weight? The answer is, not quite. This is because the complete oxidation of fats depend on adequate carbohydrate intake and the presence of certain intermediates of carbohydrate metabolism. This means that if you cut your carbohydrate intake excessively, the fats in your body cannot be broken down completely and they are instead converted into another substance called ketone bodies. When the blood accumulates these ketone bodies, ketoacidosis may occur and it may affect your health seriuosly. How so? The ketone bodies will make your blood more acidic. As your body attempts to correct the blood’s acidity, breathing tends to become deep and rapid. Without treatment, ketoacidosis can progress to coma and death, sometimes within just a few hours. But this happens only from extreme low-carbohydrate intake. To prevent this from happening, you need to take at least 50 grams of carbohydrates per day. That is equivalent to about 4 slices of whole-wheat bread.

Back to the main point, there are, however, recent studies that show that low-carbohydrate diet do promote weight loss. This is because the ketones produced help suppress appetite, so the dieter will eat less. It is thought that people who are on a low-carb diet are also consuming low-energy diets. The weight loss produced by this diet is caused by consuming less energy than the body expends. Therefore, it can be concluded that cutting carbs can make you lose weight (though, not entirely), but there are certain limitations that you must put on yourself (such as not eating less than 50 grams of carbohydrates per day). By the way, are you frustrated with the way you look? Have you been waiting to fit into that pair of jeans or a bikini? If you're wanting to lose that extra pounds of pure FAT, (and I mean it), head down to this website for their remarkable weight loss program at www.stripthatFAT.com

Here's one of the reviews:

Wow, 14lbs gone in just under 3 weeks. I feel better, look better and I have never received more comments about looking good in my life. I still have a sizeable amount of weight to lose, but I just wanted to thank you for opening my eyes to what a healthy lifestyle should look like and what to watch out for.

I haven’t really had to change my lifestyle around, but the small changes I have made have changed my lifestyle for the better. On to losing another 40lbs.

Take Care,
