You can find many places that have dog training tips online freely available, covering obedience and potty training. Some of the advice, however, is not very practical when put to practice. To really train your dog, you will need to use the psychology of dogs to your advantage.

Let me show you a technique I use in dog training obedience:

When you leave your dog at home to go to work, they do not understand that you are going to return. Howling and whining is the result of these fears. You do not want to run back into the house as this will teach your dog to whine for attention. You want to leave your dog whining for a few minutes before returning.

Once inside again, you want to give your dog some reassurance and attention before you leave again. This time you want to respond to the whining with a stern "NO". Do not leave this time but instead go over and praise your dog for good behavior and keeping quiet. When your dog attaches quietness to attention, you will lose the whining problem and after a few days of you going to work, your pet will realize that you always return.
