Dog owners need to be responsible
Visits to the vet are a necessary part of being a dog owner. Anyone who owns a dog need to be responsible for their health by regular visits to the vet, especially for their vaccinations.
1. If you have just acquired that lovable little pup, then part of accepting it into your family is acknowledging the care and wellbeing of that pet.
A young pup needs vaccinating against Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Para influenza, and Parvovirus. He will need to have a booster shot approximately 3 months later, and every year thereafter.
2. The pup also needs worming. You should ask your vet about Heartworms. A mosquito bite may transmit this parasite. There is a preventative medication available after the age of three months. They also need treatment for round worms.
3. Your dog needs flea protection. The vet can supply one that you apply monthly, onto the back of the dogs' neck. Some flea powders cause your dog more problems than ease them. Dogs can also become allergic to certain things or plants in your garden. Never feed your dog on chocolate or onions. These are harmful to your dogs' life.
4. If you chose a female dog, you may wish to have it spayed. This will prevent other persistent male dogs, continually trying to mate with it every time it comes into season. If, a male, it is a good idea to have it neutered. This will prevent the bad urine smell, and help reduce your dog from marking its territory on every tree, post, in fact anything in your back yard. A neutered dog will be less inclined to fight with other dogs, and will help your dog enjoy a healthier lifestyle.
5. It is also a good idea to add the vet expenses into your budget. On the other hand, you can obtain health insurance, this, is your personal choice.
A dog brings so much love and joy into a home and becomes part of your family, like another child. In fact, they will give your unconditional love, not matter how you treat them. Therefore, why would you hesitate to take it to the vet if it becomes sick, you would never think twice about taking your child to the doctor if he/she becomes sick?
We also need to know when it is time to let them go if they are suffering at all

Thanks you very much for that. It is true, if they want pets, then they need to take on the responsibility for them. Especially this time of year. Puppys are so adorable but like kids they grow up and change completely. Thanks

Very adorable pictures of your pup!
Until I got to college, it never even occurred to me NOT to take an animal to the vet regularly as you would a child. The Real World laughed in my face on that one... a LOT of people never take their dog to see the vet, even if it becomes obviously sick!
Great hub. So important!
