Donna,

The purpose of the stick is to keep the elastic from coming lose.  Do you crochet?  Imagine you are doing a single stitch.  You need to take the two loops formed on your hook and pull one through the other.  Once you have only one loop of the rubber band on the hook you then place the loop over a stick to keep the works from coming lose.

This was a very helpful site, thank you so much, I will be back to visit. It's nice to finally find a site that someone wants to share some helpful information without wanting something for it. Thank you for the demo, greatly appreciated.....

Have a great day

I have been having trouble making and finding dog bows! Thank-you for the help! Tomorrow I am going to Walmart to buy ribbon and sticks! I am getting a Maltese this summer and I am looking forward to adding these little bows to it! Hehehe.

Thank you,

Audrey

Audrey,

Bows are fun to make. While you are at Wal Mart look for something to put in the middle of the bow, too.

I want you to send pics of your maltese when you get her. Maltese hair is fun to put bows in. The bows in this video make great pony tail holders for a baby or a Maltese.

Let me know how it goes!

Densie,

I do not have a bandana video at this time but that is a great idea. I'll get to work on it for you.

Hi Susan,

Thank you so much for showing how to put a bow on. I was using barrettes for a while and they are expensive and don't stay! I do have a question as I believe I have been putting bows on wrong - I was taking the hair all the way through the band instead of leaving it in a loop to make it easy to take off. Is that right? You leave the hair in a loop versus pulling it through and sliding the bow up? That does make sense, as then the hair is not damanged - just wondering if I am seeing that correctly - a loop of hair with the bow over it? Thanks!

Lovin,

You have it right, just loop the hair - do not pull the hair through.

Have you heard of wrapping hair papers or wax paper over the hair before pulling it though into a loop? I've heard this makes it snarl free but I can't quite picture how this would work

Thank you so much. The ribbon they use when selling bows for dogs is usually so cheap or tacky looking and you can buy really pretty ribbons. THANK YOU!!!

Leah
