Doing WHAT You SAY!
53“Do you do what you say?”
This question became a clear life message to me in 2006 when I nearly died. During my moment of truth as I reflected back on my life I remember a particular thought that was clearly imprinted in my mind?
“What will I do with all of my goals, ambitions, ideas or dreams?”
“What about the relationships in my life?”
“Do the people in my life know how I feel about them?”
If this is really the end moment for me has my life got anywhere near the values I want to portray? Do people know the real me?
And it hit me? “Do I do what I say I Will?”
Life is a precious gift that is fragile, not forever and you should live every moment live, in it, consuming every feeling, seeing all there is to see and hearing the wonderful noises that this life has to offer us.
IN THAT ONE MOMENT soberness that comes with that life changing moment, call it the road to Damascus, the light in the road. That people just like me, all around me everywhere live life on a treadmill of routine.
A place of autopilot, cruising through life not alive, in the moment. AND it was here I begun to realize that if I could teach the world one lesson to learn from what it is I experienced then it was simply to ask the question “Do you do what you say?”
You see in business, families and the world around us people I have found in coaching make the error of not doing what they say outside of the working context. It’s at home, in marriages, in relationships, with children and with the people closest to them. I know from personal experience that when a life ends the first thought that often accompanies that moment of grief is the feeling of ‘what if I had just . . . . done that one thing’
We spend so much time focusing on things that are either not real, are based around our circumstances, or around our previous experiences. If you take the concept of carpe diem’ and apply it and not talk about it you instantly become a doer and not a talker.
Life is too short to not do. In conclusion it starts with today, doing the things you have been meaning to do, then tomorrow doing it again and over time you will just by the fact you have taken action be in a totally new place.
If we could rewind time, there would be many things we could all do differently. When the biggest difference we can make, is ‘doing the things we say we will’ TODAY!.
