Domain Names Are Important
61How To Pick A Domain
Your Name (Branding ) Means Something
Think of the guy who hands out his business cards, telling everyone what a great business he has, and how big his company is. Yet, as you look down to his E-Mail Address, it is huggybear69@yahoo.com. Real professional, must have a big company. If he had half an idea He would buy a domain name for $10.00 and make his E-mail read
Johndoe@johndoeassociates.com,
(Or whatever is relevant ) Now that looks professional.
Domain Names Have More Importance
The importance of a good domain name to a website cannot be undermined. If the domain name does not give out the message about the website, the user won't feel like checking out the site. It's not necessary to pump all your creativity into making a domain name, that does not necessarily make it any better. What is the secret? Select a good keyword and suit it for your domain name. It must be easy for the search engines to pick up. In this article you will learn how to do both things.
Use Keywords
Start by researching for a search engine optimized keyword that can be a part of your domain name. A keyword analyzer is the tool that can help you do this. You will get these if you do a search on the search engines. Enter a keyword in the analyzer tool that tells about the nature of your site. The analyzer tool will display several options for this sample keyword. Out of suggestions returned choose the options that better serve the purpose of your website. If you are looking for a search engine optimized domain name you have to use specific keywords that have low competition. With this done, you can now begin hunting for your perfect domain name.
Go Daddy Will Help...(Plus they has a pictures of Danica Patrick)
A lot of the domain name companies on the Internet will let you know if a particular name is available. The domain name service will also suggest alternatives ,if the one you put in is not available. Put in your keyword first; this will help you make better use of this tool. You will get other recommendations if this particular keyword is not available to use as the domain name. Think favorably about the domain names that have the keyword and end with .com. In case this is not present, think creatively. One way of keeping your keyword in the domain name is to put in some filler words or numbers here and there.
Here are some Good tricks
One ruse is to put the words 'a', 'an' or 'the' as fillers. Since search engines will oversee such words, your domain name remains catchy and gets indexed too. Using numbers like 12, 9 or anything else at the end of the phrase also works. Below we describe what you must do if you get all else but not the .com suffix.
Hot Keywords are Hot Keywords
Sometimes the keyword is so popular that it does not make much difference if you have a .com or something else. Other workable solutions are .biz, .net and .org. Another trick is to use a state or country extension in the domain name. Consider this if you do not lay more stock with the difference between worldwide or local marketing. It is much better for your business if you are number 5 in the Italian version of Google than if you are number 500 in America's version of Google. It is not quite difficult to choose a domain name that will be good for both your users as well as the search engines.
Overture Can Help
You can rely 90% on the analyzer tool to get your domain name. You will have to put only the remainder 10% of the effort with your creativity. If nothing else helps you, the extensions surely will.

Very good article on creating a keyword-driven domain name.
It seems that most of the easy keyword domain names have been taken off the market by individual domain name entrepreneurs and "domain name consolidators" like Demand Media.
Something else to keep in mind is that you should protect your "domain name brand" by acquiring as many of the extensions as possible - .net, .biz, .info ... etc., even if you are able to buy the .com extension.
Another approach is to create a "brand-driven domain name" that you can build around. For instance, Gorilla Trades is an example of this. Few people would use "Gorilla Trades" in a keyword search.
However, it certainly works as a memorable brand name.
I look forward to reading more of your posts on domain names.
