Many insiders are secretly calling the domain market the "Real Estate Market of the 21st Century". Why? Because domains are nothing else than Virtual Real Estate (VRE).

Domains are the properties of the web where you can build your business. If you own no property, you have no place to put your website (apart from renting a domain, of course). So VRE is rapidly increasing in value, just like properties in the "real world".

Until a couple of years ago the business of "Domaining", as it is called, was the realm of insiders and experts. What is Domain Tasting?

This is the process where you register a .com domain name and "park it" at a parking domain web-site (usually free) and see if you're going to get any type in traffic.

Type in traffic is where people are not using search engines, but typing the thing they are looking for followed by a .com straight into the address bar of a browser.

For example I registered a new domain www.premiershipresult.com and believe it or not I got traffic just hours after I parked it on a free parking domain service.

All I had to do was choose a general theme for the web-site and a keyword, and it did the result and put up a complete web-site for me.

So far I've had over 20 people visit that website, and because it's brand new I know they are not getting it from the search engines.

So it is possible to get traffic from day 1.

But that's not the cool part of domain tasting. What you can do is register a .com domain ($7.99 for a year) and test it (or taste it) for 5 days. If after 5 days you get no traffic, you can get the domain deleted and get your money back!

Well to be precise you get a credit back at your account so you can then move onto another domain name.

Not all domain hosting providers offer this ability to get a refund and the domain back, in fact most will not allow you to do this, and will specifically say no refunds under any circumstances in their terms and conditions.

The domain registration service Phil recommends and I am using is www.dynadot.com.

Their standard price of $7.99 is competitive but certainly not the cheapest around for a .com registration, but after you have purchased a number of domains you get the bulk pricing of $6.99 which is pretty good for an "everyday" price.

If you buy a domain through them, it's an easy step to taste it for 5 days and get a refund if you get no traffic.
