Dont buy into the hype!

Watch out for the Gators and the Sharks!!
Do not buy into the hype and urgency most MLM marketing tools lure you into. If they are a real network marketing company they will be around long enough for you to sleep on it first. The first rule before looking into a Network Marketing company is doing your homework. (see What to look for in an MLM Company, coming soon)
Yes, I have an agenda. I will be the first to admit it. I am not going to sit here and tell you it’s all going to be peaches and roses. Deciding to do a home based business is a good decision with all the uncertainty in this world. Massive layoffs, unemployment, food stamps, government deficits, credit card debt, the car breaks down AAAAAAAGH!!
There is no need to be in a hurry. There is a way out. Please take a bit of advice from a guy who has wasted thousands of dollars chasing the dream.
TAKE YOUR TIME!
Building a home based business through Multilevel Marketing is a great way to help you achieve your financial goals. (see How are you going to get there? ) However, do not choose one that is going to drain you and your bank account.
IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT USUALLY IS!
How about a short story of a typical MLM newbie, mine…
They get you to look at all big money, boats, cars, cool houses, wonderful vacations, and try to sell you the dream DVD and you say to yourself, “I’m going to be rich!” By the time you’re done with the presentation, you have already spent your money without even earning a dime and you feel soooo compelled to join. You can’t help it. They know how to get you sucked in through your emotions.
You continue to get out your almost maxed out Visa card and go for it. “I am going to be rich!” You say to yourself as you sign the slip and watch your $950 plus shipping go somewhere. A few days later after hearing from NO ONE, you get your product and you are on your way to the top. Not being sure what to do you start telling every one you know about YOUR new company. They tell you in that nifty looking info pack they sent you to make a list of the 200 people you know. They even give you a fancy memory jogger list.
You get a call from your up line. “We are here to help you. First thing you need to do is order DVD’s and brochures and get some business cards.” You are sooooo excited as you keep watching that big money, boats, cars, cool houses, wonderful vacations, and try to sell you the dream DVD and you say to yourself, “Wow, I’m going to be rich! First thing I’m going to do is get out of debt. Then I’m going to…and then I am going to… etc…etc...”
You pass out DVD’s and brochures to everyone you know and see. “Hey, look at MY new business venture! Check out the big Presidential Pack, it’s the best deal for your money!” “Hey, can you use some extra cash?” You ask a stranger. Things don’t go so well for the first few weeks. You call your up line. “Hey, get plugged into the training calls and watch the back office videos!” Wow, you get pumped up again. By this time your $350 monthly dollar auto-ship is up and you get a load of new product. “Man this is good stuff. I feel so good.” You watch that big money, boats, cars, cool houses, wonderful vacations, and try to sell you the dream DVD and you say to yourself, “I’m going to be rich!”
You call your up line, “Hey, there is a show at the Fair grounds. Want to come down and work the booth? It will truly explode your business!” You think “Great, finally on my way.” Your up-line tells you to buy more of the big money, boats, cars, cool houses, wonderful vacations, and try to sell you the dream DVD’s and brochures. So, you plunk down another $350 dollars in promotional materials and send your up line a check for $800 to pay for “your spot” in the booth. The material comes in the mail. “Oh my gosh! None of them are labeled!” “I can’t pass these out without any of MY information on it!” So you get to work and print out 900 labels and spend the next 4 days labeling DVD’s and brochures. At the end of a long day you plug in that big money, boats, cars, cool houses, wonderful vacations, and try to sell you the dream DVD and you say to yourself, “I’m going to be rich!”
The fair comes and goes and you got a few people. You get your first commission check of $45 dollars!” Mean time your next month’s $350 auto ship comes out. You call you up-line. “The people we signed up at the fair? Well, they all dropped off. They said that they could not afford the $350 auto-ship.” Don’t worry about it, “It’s just a numbers game.” As they tell you there is another opportunity to work a booth at the dome. “Man, it’s going to be great. There is going to be great exposure there! Everyone we sign up I will place them under you!” You think, “Wow, what a neat guy.” “By the way, your portion of the booth is $350 dollars, and you need to get more of them big money, boats, cars, cool houses, wonderful vacations, and try to sell you the dream DVD’s and you say to yourself, “I’m going to be rich!” as you plunk down another $300 dollars for promotional materials.
Mean while your commission check drops off to ZERO and you have another $350
auto-ship coming out in three days. You watch the that big money, boats, cars, cool houses, wonderful vacations, and try to sell you the dream DVD again and you say to yourself, “I’m going to be rich.” With a little less excitement, and ask your self, “How long is it going to take?”
Booth day comes and goes, you get three! Things are looking up these people can afford it. You call them and have them watch that big money, boats, cars, cool houses, wonderful vacations, and try to sell you the dream DVD and hope they get it.
Two more months go by and those people drop off as the others did. You tell your self, “I am not a sells person,” and quit. No one calls, no one sends you an email.
You just feel duped and ripped off . You say, "MLM is just a pyramid scheme." “Network Marketing is for the birds!”
A year or two goes buy and someone shows a different big money, boats, cars, cool houses, wonderful vacations, and try to sell you the dream DVD and you say to yourself, “I’m going to be rich!” By this time when they tell you make your 200 name list you find out you are in the NFL!
No Friends Left Club!!!
The cycle continues the dreams smashed, the hopes dashed. You call it quits for good!
Then one day you meet up with an old friend. You find out he’s is working a home based business and is doing well. You are leery at first but he does NOT show you the big money, boats, cars, cool houses, wonderful vacations, and try to sell you the dream DVD. He says, “This is the product and here is the system. The monthly auto-ship is low and the product is of the highest quality and healthy for you.”
He continues to show you how the company takes a portion of its sales to buy food for the hungry in America. The compensation plan looks great and they have free training and systems to plug you into. He continues to show you a plan of action like finding your Why, and Setting Your Goals. He introduces you to people who have years of network marketing experience who’s goal is to help you succeed and can train you and your down line.
