I am writing this out of cocern for others. So that something that happened to me will not happen to you.

It happened at a time when I was desperately looking for a job. I had lilttle money and I was willing to take anything that came my way. Then I received a letter in the mail. The first thing that I caught my eye was a nice fat check for about $1,500. I was stunned and grateful. It look real to me. I then proceeded to read the letter. Basically, the letter said that I am being offered to job to be a secret shopped. All I had to do was deposit the money into my account and then go to the store they have selected and write a critique about the customer service of the store and the layout of the store. I was told to buy about $150 worth of merchandise, keep $300 as my salary and then send the remaining money back to the company via MoneyGram or Western Union.

It seemed easy enough to me and I thought it was a great way to make an extra $300 a week. Of course I wondered what the catch was, but I guess I didn't search hard enough for answers, because I was SCAMMED...big time!

I did what I was told. I spent bought a few things that I needed around the house, I left the rest of the money in my bank account (hoping to save it for a rainy day), then I sent the rest of the money back to the scam artists via Money Gram.

A couple of weeks later, I got a letter from my bank saying that I had used a fraudulent check and my bank account was at a deficit of over a thousand dollars. Well, I had no job and no way to pay the bank back the money and I didn't know who to turn to. So, eventually, I lost my bank account (due to fraudulent activity according to them) and still had no job to pay back my debtors.

Fortunately for me, I have a great family that is looking out for me while I search for a job, but if it wasn't for them, I would be left high a dry. I'm sure there are people out there who have fallen for this scam and have no way out of it and are left in debt because of these horrible people! Don't be one of them! Listen to my advice. Don't fall for the SECRET SHOPPER SCAM!

Dutch-

I feel for you, really. You know, the past few years I have at least checked into so many "opportunities". There are a couple that even would work, but I discovered that they were illegal before I tried them. One was that shopper scam, I got that check in the mail as well, and when I saw the directions to send most of the money back, $700 -$800, I realized it was a scam. There are so many people out there who do not give a RIP about you or me, they usually are from other countries and know from word of mouth that Americans are typically too trusting and easily fall prey to various types of "opportunities" so they scam us and often make tons of money doing it. They usually consider us to be rich and wealthy, and in comparison to them, maybe we are. You can't give up though, this IS STILL the land of opportunity, there are STILL ways to make a good income out there. Russ Dalbey's "Winning in the cash flow business" is one opportunity that is both a scam AND a real opportunity. The scam is that after you purchase the initial info package, (which is all you need to make money) they try to recruit you into a special group that will "help you every step of the way" to get your first deal done quickly and efficiently. But those "recruitment" programs cost THOUSANDS, and are UNNECESSARY. There are other programs that work as well, like those letters you get in the mail that have a list of 7 or 10 people and their addresses in them, you send a dollar to each one, then move the names all up one position and bump number 1 off the list, and add your name and address to spot number 10. Then you copy the letter with your name at number 10, and send it out to 200 or 500 people (postage not included) and usually you get a big roll of name lables from a company after you pay them $25 or so for a name list, a list of people who are interested in work at home opportunities. That will work if you send out enough letters, I would send out 1000, which would cost me a few hundred dollars in postage, but I would definitely generate a lot of money in a program like that because it really works if you send out enough letters. But it is called a chain letter, and it is illegal. I have looked it up in the postal and lottery laws, and sure enough it is illegal. There is not legitimate reason WHY they are illegal, it just is. (Unfortunately.) Find a job, work hard, earn a normal paycheck, and dedicate some spare time to find an opportunity that really works, never give up because they are out there. There are websites and Forums that you can join online where people will share their experiences with different opportunities too, and if you find one of those forums or sites, you can usually type in the name of a particular opportunity and do a search of the forum and see what people have to say about that opportunity. Best of luck to you.
