Double Air Mattresses
68Double Air Mattresses: Comfortable & Sturdy
A double air mattress is a much larger form of the traditional air mattress that is both wider, and also much thicker. A double air mattress is designed for two people to use, and has a much higher level of acceptable weight than the regular. Most regular air mattresses go up to the 250 lb to 270 lb range, but many double air mattresses can easily hold individuals who are well over 300 pounds. Many of these double air mattresses are also incredibly comfortable and offer a level of support that many futons can't come close to matching (plus no annoying metal bar in the small of your back). I'm a huge fan of the double air mattress ever since sleeping on one at my Dad's place in Tampa. I had never seen one before then, and that was a comfortable and amazing sleep. Woke up feeling refreshed, feeling good, and even better, that Coleman queen sized double air mattress lasted a full week without losing air or that precious back support. I was sold. Any time I make one of my frequent moves now, I make sure to find a quality one of those great inflatable beds to make the transition a whole heck of a lot easier.

Double High Air Mattresses
My experience with double high air mattresses has been extremely good to this point, which is definitely saying something since I am not at all a fan of traditional air mattresses. I'm a larger guy - usually in the 280-300 lb range and so the majority of air mattresses don't work worth a crap even before they spring a leak you can't find and become worthless junk. Even when they held up to the weight, I never found them very comfortable at all, and certainly nowhere near the support and comfort that a double could offer.
In fact, there have been double air mattresses I've slept on that were more comfortable and supportive than many beds, mattresses, and even good couches that I've slept on. Being someone who loves travel and truly has wanderlust, the fact that these deflate and fold up so easily is just a huge additional bonus. These can be used for camping trips, although they're a little harder to inflate, so you will definitely need a pump of some kind to make this doable on a camping trip. As a temporary replacement for a bed, I really can't reccomend a good double air mattress enough. A good one of these is worth so much more than the cost.

Conclusion on Double Air Mattresses
There's not much I can say about the double air mattresses that I haven't already mentioned. These are fantastic accessories that many college students, wayward travelers, and just visiting friends will find incredibly comfortable and useful. What's even better is that these can be found at far cheaper prices than a second bed, and the ones I've used most have been amazingly durable.
So even if you don't like regular air mattresses (and I hear you on that one) try giving a double a try. There are many quality Coleman queen sized double air beds or other models that can provide all the comfort you would ever need from a good double air mattress. You might be amazed how big the difference is, and if your experience with the double high air mattresses and air beds is half as good as mine have been then you'll be extremely happy.

Comments on Double Air Mattresses
Hi Nancy, thanks for the comment! I am a huge fan of the double air beds. I think the one I just bought is a Coleman queen size double high with pump, but I'm not sure what double air mattress my Dad has down in Tampa. By far and away consistently the best sleeping I've had in years.
