Radiohead's break from EMI and their decision to release the album In Rainbows on their website may be seen as something of an industry watershed. There's little doubt that the way we consume music has changed radically over the past ten years or so, but Radiohead are not the first band to put their albums out for free (or discretionary payment) download.

Fans of Four Tet, Mu-Ziq, Caribou and (of course) Canabrism may be interested to know that some of Canabrism's alternative back catalogue albums are now available to download for free from the official website - including last year's 'Random', which was voted number 7 in the Irish music "Ten Worst Albums of 2007" awards.

On a more positive note, the album 'Hubbard's Munth' was featured in the RPM Challenge Box Set 2007, with the track 'Ninth' being selected from over 6,000 albums to appear in the 6-Disc compilation representing the best of the year's new music.

It's not clear how long the albums are going to be available for free download, so it's probably a good idea to pop over there now and grab them while you can.

At the moment, there are four albums on the site - Random, Hubbard's Munth, Humanex and The Gas Bill Recording To Mark. There seems to be a bit more space there, which implies that more may become available later on. Although you can download free albums here, there is a donation button you can use if you find the music to be of particular benefit to your existence...
