Dream Journals, Your Personal Dream Database
Almost all of us have remembered a vivid dream or two in our lives. Do these dreams sometimes make some sort of sense to you?
By jotting down the dreams you do remember, maybe you can eventually decipher them for practical use. I've been consciously dreaming since I was very young. My dreams were quite vivid, in color, and on topics that I was never exposed to as a youngster. As I grew older, I decided to write down my dreams for fun. Eventually, I've developed a large collection of journals on my nighttime and daytime escapades.
Through this process of journal writing, I've gained much insight into my psyche. I've learned to trust my dreams as guideposts to help me on my Journey of Living. They have become a major part of my learning process of who I was, who I am, and who I can be.
Rather than to analyze my dreams from an intellectual point of view, I place my intuition in the forefront, as my designated Dream Interpreter. Since my personal Dream database has grown over the years, I now have a vast source of information to better understand the meanings of my dreams.
True Examples:
1. Dream: I 'm riding in a car with my friend. I look in the rear view mirror and I see several cars crashing into each other behind us. I feel relief in my dream, because we did not get caught up in the accident.
Life: My friend and I are on a two-day road trip. I share my dream with him and I suggest he be careful on the road. Everything is going fine until, just as in my dream, I look in the rear view mirror and suddenly I see lots of smoke. All the cars behind us are skidding into each other, and only a few of us who were driving ahead of this group, are still safely on the road.
2. Dream: My father is telling me how unhappy he is with his life. He is tired of living and he wants to leave the Earth plane. I feel his sadness and I tell him that I understand, and that I will honor his decision to leave if he wants to.
Life: I visit my father a few days after this dream. I do not mention the dream to him. He hugs me and speaks to me in a different manner than usual. I sense he's saying goodbye to me. He tells me how much he loves me and how much I mean to him. Although he is in good health, that weekend, he crosses over peacefully.
3. Dream: I see myself standing in a hallway. I see coffins everywhere. I must walk through this hall to enter a room. I know I need to enter this room to assist someone. Although I am afraid, I also feel committed to reach the room ahead of me. I walk carefully, but focused on my intents. I open the door to the room and I see a man trapped in a powerful tornado with objects flying everywhere. He yells in fear, as I walk into the room and think with my mind to calm the winds. Everything falls to the floor and I help him walk out to the hall.
Life: I receive a phone call a few days later after my dream, from a young man who is very distraught and anxious. He is experiencing chaos in so many areas of his life, and he feels lost and afraid. This was the man I saw in my dreams.
Conclusions
These types of dreams listed above, are easy to interpret because they are followed up by actual events that support the information given ahead of time.
There are many other types of dreams we can explore on different levels. Through my own research of my dream journals, I have concluded that my nocturnal writings are truly presenting helpful information to understand how I think, believe, and interpret what occurs in my daily life.
There is no doubt in my mind what I own for myself, by dedicating my life to dream journaling. We all have the opportunities to delve into this natural process of being Human--to Be Dreamers. We can experience volumes of interesting, and often revealing moments through imagery, words, and feelings during our nightly encounters. Why not befriend your dreams with open arms? I did, and it's definitely worth it!
I am a Holistic Life Coach and I include Dream Journaling and their interpretations as an important part of self discovery.
