Drink Your Lemonade And Hot Lemon Water For Optimal Health
65
Have you ever heard the expression, "If life gives you lemons, make some lemonade?"
This lovely August Day promises to be hot and sticky here in New York. A nice cool glass of lemonade would just hit the spot right about now and homemade lemonade is fun to make with kids and is really good for everyone too. After you squeeze your lemons, you can even use the pulp to exfoliate and tone your summer skin. It's also great for soothing insect bites.
Lemons contain some of the highest Vitamin C counts and is excellent for overall body cleansing and infection prevention. Lemon juice also contains easily absorbed calcium, magnesium and potassium.
Recipe for homemade lemonade:
You will need:
6 large organic lemons
1 cup organic sugar
2 qt. cold water
1 table organic honey (optional)
Slice the lemons and squeeze into a bowl or measuring cup and remove any seeds. In a large pitcher combine the juice and sugar (and optional honey) and then stir in the water. Serve over ice or pour into popsicle makers and freeze for a icy treat!
Besides lemonade, lemons have been used for all time for many different purposes including cleaning products and cooking. Most importantly perhaps, lemons stimulate and aid digestion and also help purify the liver and kidneys by eliminating toxins and waste products from the body. This process works best when lemons are mixed with hot water and consumed first thing in the morning. Lemon is a diuretic and hot lemon water can also help eliminate urinary tract infections.
I have been enjoying the hot lemon water (one half lemon to a hot cup of water in a coffee mug) every morning and experience improved digestion and less bloating, clearer skin, decreased cellulite and allergies, and non-frequent colds and other infections. I didn't remember for the longest time that my sweet grandmother drank this hot lemon water every morning and it came to me one day that I should be doing it as well. It's a great mood lifter and energy enhancer when taken early in the day! And who couldn't use that?

I LOVE THAT!!!!!!
What recipe/ratios do you use for your hot lemon water? (And, how many lemons do you go through in a week?)
Hot lemon water is definitely something I want to routinely include in my diet. After reading your Hub I went digging for more information. The benefits of lemons are phenomenal.
*hugs*
Hey there, Amanda, every morning I drink one half large organic lemon to 3/4 full coffee mug size mug. Do this before you eat a thing!
So would there be any benefits to putting lemon juice in your water - I drink my water like that all the time. Now I will also try the hot lemon water.

I like the version of that saying that I heard recently:
When life hands you lemons, make grape juice and then sit back and watch the world wonder how you did it.
