Purplesheep's Traffic Hints

If you are publishing on-line then you want to get read or you want to generate income from your advertising efforts.

Otherwise you may as well write off-line and share your expertise with your pet hamster.

There are some simple rules to getting noticed, getting visitors to hang around and getting them to click.

On this page I will let you in on a few secrets on generating targeted traffic.

Write Remarkably

Like any marketplace, the internet is a crowded place. There are billions of sites on millions of subjects. You have to build something that people will love reading, and that they will think worthy of telling their friends. Your site has to stand out from the sea of beige and boring websites.

Imagine your page is a sheep.  What makes your sheep stand out from the flock. Make your sheep a purple sheep and it will not only get noticed, it will get talked about.

Make your page self-marketing. If you make an average site, you should expect average statistics.

Don't forget to make the headline interesting and relevent!!!

Promote your site

If you are proud of your site why not tell the world?

Sites sitting on a server won't get found unless people know where to look. A purple sheep wandering around in the dark won't get noticed unless it bleets loud.

Here are a few quick steps..

Note: as hubpages does not allow too many external links the best way to see all this is to view my complete traffic hits guide on Squidoo.. follow the link below...

1) Autosignature. Put a link to your best work on your email autosignature. Very quickly all your contacts will see what you are about.

2) Ping. Ping your site at places like technorati.com/ping. Search engines like google look for traffic so pinging your site creates a pathway that google can spot.

3) Blog. Make a sister site or blog and put links to your new site there. Have a look at mine at steven-parsons.blogspot.com Making a blog is free and you can also monetise it.

4) Reddit. Submit your site to Reddit.com This site can send a lot of traffic your way of your content is really good. If your site is dull expect no traffic.

5.) Comment. Leave constructive and friendly comments on other forums with relevant content. People reading these will check you out if your comments are wise.

6.) Squidoo.com. Squidoo.com is my favourite site and it has some fantastic modules. It's another publishing forum like HubPages but it allows self-promotion and as many external links as there are sheep in New Zealand.

7.) Make another HubPage. Keep up the good work and don't give up. Massive traffic volumes won't happen overnight but over time you will start to build a following. You could write one about the town where you live such as http://hubpages.com/hub/blobby

8.) Use the Widget. Go to your profile and make a widget.. Put this on your blog!!http://hubpages.com/widget/purplesheep

9.) Go easy on the advertising. Restrict to ads running on your site.. It annoys people.

Good luck and keep it REMARKABLE
