The New XBox Live Console

So when given a list of 10 things to remember, most people will remember a few things from the beginning, a few from the end, and possible one thing from the middle. So, what is it we will remember from this E3 Spotlight? Well, with Microsoft going first, it will be how great the XBox360 is going to be this year. It doesn't really matter what Sony or Nintendo says, everything else will be just background noise. So let's hit on a few things that have already been said by Microsoft.

The Games Coming;

Fable 2: All that can be said is WOW; this game is looking to be a great game. Co-op play, creating the world by your choices, good or evil... Looks like the next big game. This will be released October 2008.

FallOut 3; All the great things about a FPS with some other new things thrown in. Third person view, the choice between real time or stop motion with the ability to select which part of the target you want to aim for. This game also offers huge maps and detailed ground work. This will be released this October 2008.

Resident Evil 5; This is another great looking game. It was suppose to be released in May 2009, but was stated to be released March 13, 2009 (Friday the 13th). Using co-op play and a lot of the commands from Gears of War 1 & 2. I think that they definitely have a winner on their hands this time.

Gears of War 2; And of course they wouldn't allow this E3 to start off without the new Gears of War that they have been hyping up so much. The new Unreal engine, hundreds of Locust to kill, and 5 man horde mode; Need anything further be said about this. Awesome game. Period. Releasing November 2008.

The Console Changes;

They also put up a lot of numbers about how well Xbox Live is doing, with 12 million subscribers, how they have made 48 billion this year alone, and have over 10000 media on demand content. Some pretty impressive stuff to be said about their online gaming system. And they pretty well seeded in my mind how PS3 is dead.

So what else is new for Microsoft? Well, how about a totally redesigned front end for Xbox Live. With some new areas, like avatars running around mucking up the place. Party mode, where you can group up and watch movies together or jump into games together.

Or better yet, Microsoft is jumping into the game shows. Take your avatar and play one of the many game shows where you can win real money and prizes. Yes, thats right you heard me, REAL money and prizes.

Or better yet, how about being in the movies? With their movie creator game you act out funny scripts and then piece it all together to make a seriously bad B movie.

Another great thing they brought out was LIPS, a karaoke game for the 360. You can use their songs, or upload ones from your iPod or Zune. This looks like a cool party game if I ever saw one. Think they are trying to take some business away from Wii here? Time will only tell.

Everything Else;

So when the guy for Guitar Hero World tour came out and was giving his speech, did anyone else feel a little awkward? I bet he sure did, with his stuttering and placed hype about things he expected people to cheer or clap about, but received a resound of crickets. I think that would make most people feel awkward if they were up there.

So, Harmonix comes out to much applause, goes on about RockBand 2 and gets clapped and cheered at. Showing their 85 song set list which are all masters. Explaining all songs will be exportable from RB1 to RB2, and that ACDC will release one of their songs in RB2, and so on and so forth.

Finally, yes, Final Fantasy 13. This should be the final nail in the proverbial, you know what, for PS3. Something they held so dear they let slip away to the Xbox360. After years of seeing title after title become mixed platform, what do they have left? Metal Gear? Too bad it's on the last episode. Or, maybe thank god its on the last episode, maybe they would abandon them as well. Considering it is solely owned by Sony, that would probably be a good move by them. GOD KNOWS I LOVE METAL GEAR, but ever since sony bought the franchise they've run it into the ground

So what's left to be said? Not too much. We will hear about how great PS3 Home is going to be. Maybe some other nifty little things, but really are we going to be playing our PS3 by the end of this year?
