How Do I Sell On Ebay???

I am an Ebay Power Seller. I buy items on Ebay then I Resell them on Ebay.

There are a few tricks to selling on Ebay. Ebay has high selling fees, this is discouraging to most while being most sellers ultimate reason of failure.

When selling, you will need to research to see what similar items have sold for. A "research" tool to view similar "sold items" is called " Terapeak ". Terapeak is a Ebay research tool which allows you to view sold items up to "90" days. This is 3 months of all items sold on Ebay. It is neccessity to have Terapeak when selling on Ebay.

In most cases, the more rare your item is, the more valuable it is. If you do a Terapeak search to see what a previous item similar to yours has sold for, you may find that there have been no items similar to yours. If this is the case, you can set your "own" price. This is optimum. If the buyer has no previous price to compare to, the buyer will likely pay more for a rare item as it is more in demand.

SELLING FORMATS

  • You can choose to sell in "Auction" format or "BIN" "Buy It Now".
  • BIN is the safest way to sell. Auction = Risk

SELLING IN AUCTION FORMAT

  • When selling in an auction, set a low but noticeable starting price. Example: A common price for an auctions starting bid would be .99 cents or a price ending in .99. Because this is a popular price format, many use it. This can cost you attention to your items. Attention = more bidders. More bidders = more money.
  • Instead of using a price like 3.99 to start, start a number that stands apart. Example $3.78. There are thousands of listings, you want your item to stand out as much as possible.
  • You have the option to set a "Reserve Price" when selling in auction format. This is a way for ebay to make more money. Most often, auctions with reserve prices are never met. If the price is not met, you still have to pay listing fees and additional reserve price fees.
  • If you are selling in auction, you have the option to end your listing 12 hours prior the listings end. This is very valuable. If you go beyond the 12 hour deadline, you are in contract to sell the item. If you do not sell, you could receive "negative feedback" which is destructive to future sales.

FIXED PRICE LISTING

  • Fixed price or "Buy It Now, BIN for short" is pretty simple.
  • Simply set a price using the same listing technique as in the "auction" example.
  • With BIN, you set your price. There is no risk in this selling technique. However, it can take longer for your item to sell. If your item is not desired, it may not sell period in BIN format. This is not true for desirable items. Desirable items can literally sell while you sleep.
  • BIN format has the option of "BEST OFFER". I highly recommend you use "best offer". This will speed up interest in your items. If no one is willing to pay your set price, you give them another option with "best offer".
  • When using "Best Offer", you do not have to literally sell your item for the best offer. "Best Offer" allows the seller to accept and decline offers. If you receive an offer then receive a higher offer, you can decline the lower offer. When declining the lower offer, add a note to the buyer. " Thank You for your offer, I have 1 higher offer at the time. Feel free to make another offer, Thank You."

MARKET YOUR LISTING

  • The more desirable your product, the more money.
  • When listing an item, you want the item to draw attention like I used in the "pricing example". Example: Look at my hub title, It is "SELL ON EBAY" not " sell on ebay". USE CAPS. Which one is easier to read on Hub pages comments?
  • Make the buyer "drool" over your product. Use these things "!!!!". Exclamation marks!!!
  • Give the buyer a history of your product. Point out the strong points. Example: Extremely Rare!!!, Amazing!! One of a kind!!! Also research the product you are selling to compare with others . How much have the other items sold for that are similar to your items? Again, this is where you need " Terapeak Research ".
  • Use subtitles. Subtitles take up more room in the listing pages. A subtitle could catch the buyer that would have missed viewing your item otherwise.
  • Use good keywords in your title. The title to your ebay listing is like a resume to a job. The title is the first thing the buyer see's. View similar recently sold items to see which listings drew the most bids. Learn from their listings. Do an ebay search to see the titles of similar listings. Chances are if bidding is high, they have a good title.
  • Offer free shipping. Free shipping is a good marketing tool. This can increase interest in your item. Often with free shipping comes "seller discounts". Free shipping can also get your listing ranked higher in search results.

I have My Ebay Items listed at the top right. Use these for reference if needed.

Thanks for reading Rogue.

I have made $400 profit from a single card, however it does take some longer than others to sell.
