Early Retirement And You
Early retirement is a big step to take. Retiring overseas and internationally is an even bigger step! It is not something to be taken lightly, nor done without planning. This series of articles will help you plan for your early retirement abroad so you can get on with living your life happy, healthy, and wealthy.
The obvious and most frequent question that one asks when considering to make a move overseas is, “where is the best place to live?” Truthfully speaking, no one can answer that question except for you. Each person is different and has different priorities in life. As such, all it takes on your part is becoming somewhat of a Sherlock Holmes and investigating all the options that are set before you. One way you can do this is by making a list of priorities and organizing them according to what is most important to you and any other parties involved. Here are a few items to put on your list:
Your Early International Retirement Checklist
- Cost of living. Many people decide to move overseas because they want a better life with a cheaper price tag and less stress.
- Cost of real estate. Making your decision on the fact that there is cheap real estate out there might come back to haunt you later. Over time, it is possible that the realization will come to you that you are actually unhappy with other aspects of you’re new life.
- Climate. Ahh the day when you don’t have to shovel the driveway is a beautiful thought isn’t it? There is also the other extreme to consider. It’s so hot outside that you put your pajamas in the freezer just to be able to have a few minutes of cold.
- Health Care. If you have ongoing health concerns, heath care should be of upmost importance to you. Looking at the costs of international health care insurance as well as the availability is a good plan.
- Accessibility to your loved ones. If you have children or grandchildren or any other loved ones that you want to stay in close touch with, living in a place that would make that possible should be high on your priority list. Looking into the cost of flying and other details like this should be in your investigation.
- Recreational Activities. Why should having fun be on your list of priorities? Being bored with nothing to do is no way to live. Investigating the interesting cultural activities you can do to keep yourself active will add to your happiness in the end.
To Infinity And...
These are only a few things that should be added to you list of priorities. When making your list, be sure to take into account your current situation in life. It is you and your family alone who can decide where the best place is for you to live depending on your preferences in life. Truly early retirement is a great step to take, start planning now and you will achieve freedom beyond your wildest dreams.
Next in this series you will learn how to pick the best retirement destinations with a pros and cons list.
