If you want to earn money, sign up as a worker. Then as a worker you can work on HITs (Human Intelligence Task). HITs are basically work requested by either another person or company. The length of HITs vary, they have a really broad range. They are allotted by Time required to finish the task as well as Reward you receive for finishing the task. Like Time, Reward amount also vary. Anywhere from $0.01 to infinity. Usually the task that requires a long duration of time will also have a better reward associated with the task.

The tasks vary as well, they can be taking a small survey or a really long survey that can take a few hours for you to complete. Also you can review software if you meet the prerequisites. Personally I would say the average amount per HIT is around $1.00 these HITs take about 10 minutes to finish. There is however a waiting period in which your work is reviewed and analyzed by the Requester. If the requester deems that your work is satisfactory then you will be rewarded otherwise you will be rejected. You have to be careful to not get too many rejections and also make sure you finish your HITs in the given time because they do affect your overall Rating. Some of the requesters create HITs that can only be worked on by qualified workers. So a HIT can require that you have a 95% approval rating.

The payout can be made directly to your bank account or it can be given to you as an Amazon.com gift card, which can then be used on Amazon.com products at any time. With the Internet you always have to be careful of scams as well. There will be HITs requiring you to sign up on 3rd party websites that may bill your cell phone for service or continue to spam you. I would recommend never to give out your phone numbers and I would create a separate email account just to sign up for websites that may spam you.
