A year ago I was desperately looking for ways to augment my income. I am a working mom and I have to work eight hours a day six days a week. With my schedule, I barely have time for my son. Moreover, I gave birth again to another baby, which means it would be double the exhaustion of commuting to and from work and then taking care of my baby and my toddler when I get home. It was really tiresome. My husband had kept nagging me about quitting my job and just take care of our two kids, but I always believe that it would be better if we both work especially now that we have two mouths to feed.

One day, while I was surfing through the world wide web at the office, I realized there are a lot of other ways where I could earn even at the comfort of my own home. The internet, I realized, has a lot of portals where I could possibly earn a little. However, those portals are not a guarantee of a good income. It is still better to have a full-time job. But if lucky enough, one could actually earn a decent income from the net, if he only knows the right programs.

According to my research, here are possible ways to earn while staying at the comfort of your own home.

1. Search home-based jobs at job sites. There are several legitimate jobsites where you can apply for home-based jobs that match your qualifications and criteria. I got one of my freelance job from one of these sites. The salary is close to having a full-time job, sometimes even better. I still keep my eight hour six days a week job, and at the same time, work at home as a freelancer. The pay is actually great. If they will ask me to work in their company full-time, which is a possibility, I will gladly take the offer and leave my office job. By then, I could take care of my kids while earning and enjoying at the same time, and I wouldn't have to beat rush hours and heavy traffic anymore.
2. Blog. I have heard that there are people who are actually earning a decent income from blogging. I have yet to find out myself. I am relatively new in blogging and so far have earned only a few cents from it. But what is good in blogging is that I get to enhance my writing skills and at the same time, enjoy, earn, and learn a lot of other things.
3. Join affiliate programs. If you are into blogging or marketing, you might as well join affiliate programs which could help you generate more cash. There are many affiliate programs you can choose from.
4. Join paid to post sites. There are several sites which pay you to post a thread or answer discussions. One of these sites is MYLOT. Payout here is $10.
5. PTC's. Joing paid to click sites is also one way to earn. However, you need to have patience as you only get a quarter of a cent per click. Moreover, there are lots of scam ptc sites you just don't know what is legitimate and what is real.
6. Triond. If you are into content writing, Triond is for you. It pays royalties for content you submit in their site. However, I think pay per article here is too low.
7. Associated Content. This site is like triond where you get paid for content you publish. However, this site do not pay members outside the US.
8. Adsense. They say google adsense is a good way to earn revenue. I do not know yet because I haven't earned from it so far although I had setup my account for almost a year.
9. Sign-profit. You earn a few cents from this site by just placing their banner code in your signature in forums. Everytime someone clicks on the banner, you get paid.

The items above do not provide a get rich scheme but they help a bit. I am earning well on one freelance job. I hope you find a legitimate online job, too.
