This hub is NOT about telling you how to write a hub or how to add the hub capsules or anything else that falls into the category of hub basics. It’s not even about going back into detail about the 5 Money Making Tips Most Hubbers Forget To Use While all that is important and you will discover a great deal of information on those topics, this hub is specifically about discovering a effective and consistent way of earning more with your hubs.

Earn More By Discovering New Hubbers

Those who have read 5 Money Making Tips Most Hubbers Forget To Use already understand the importance of interacting with fellow Hubbers (even if you haven’t started actually doing it:) While that particular hub brought out a number of good points along those lines, it did not mention taking polls or the newest capsule to HubPages, the quiz capsule. Using these interactive tools are some of the ways to discover fellow Hubbers and some really great hubs. It is also a way for them to discover you. There are thousands of hubs on HubPages. You need to be sure people are finding their way to you (more about that in a minute). My point is, meeting, sharing, and encouraging other Hubbers can be truly beneficial. I simply love networking and interacting with those who share a common bond as me!

Okay, some of you may not be looking for that “warm and cozy” feeling like me, so here are some other reasons for you to discover some great hubs that may or may not be related to what you typically write about

Will They Discover Your Hub If You're Lost In The Crowd?
Will They Discover Your Hub If You're Lost In The Crowd?

Multiple Benefits To Networking With Hubbers

Become the “go to” guy in any given field. When you comment and drop a bit of knowledge (not toot your own horn, there’s a difference), you make others not just want to read your hubs, but refer them to others. This is truly a great reason to interact with the Hub Community. When you do, you won't feel so lost in the crowd, and you make it possible for readers to discover your hub. Finding your hub should never be like looking for Waldo.

You will want to start to do things to help distinguish yourself. So comment and share what you know. Yours will be the hub links that others find themselves drawn to and regularly referring. This increases their own hub resource pool, popularity and credibility (the jury's still out on that one) , and if they have been smart enough to attach some Affiliate Url Trackers this will also increase their affiliate earnings. I discovered that Hubpages loves all this interacting because this is what keeps the whole Hubtivity thing going. I’m sure that’s why they have such a great incentive program for us poor slobs.

  • You can earn 10% of a new Hubber’s lifetime earnings from ALL their hubs if they sign up via your referral link within 30 days of initial impression. How is that for residual income? With all the prolific writers here on HubPages, just imagine if you had referred one iota of them!!!

The extra added monetary incentive is the fact that:  The above 10% referral earnings is IN ADDITION to the 9 – 12% you can ALSO earn. Some of you may have your eyes peeled to the screen by now, and your brain is screaming: “Nobody told me anything about 9 – 12% for referrals! Well, for those that missed the memo, you can get paid for placing all those links to other people’s hubs that you see people putting on the bottom of their page. You may be already putting them on the bottom of your pages, but are you getting the affiliate commissions for them? Not if you don’t use Affiliate Url Trackers the way HubPages outlines for you to do.

[When you COME BACK from running over to the above hub to make sure you’ve been doing it right, or from joining the hub writer’s referral compensation program, read the following. You’ll be able to see how you can take action and start getting the most out of the various ways that HubPages lets writers receive residual income.]

  • Referring someone to a hub you really enjoyed and found beneficial (see how to do this in Affiliate Url Trackers section). If the hub ALREADY has an affiliate receiving a referral commission, you receive 9% commission from the impression. (See HubPages rules on about page impression time lapses)
  • If the hub DOES NOT ALREADY have an affiliate receiving a referral commission, you receive 12% commission from the impression. (See HubPages rules on about page impression time lapses). If this isn’t one of the coolest compensation programs, I don’t know what is! But how many of us know about it? Understand it? Use it???
  • You can even earn 30% on a traffic referral to the HubPages home page.  You get the 30% and HubPages keeps the rest. (Don’t quote me on this one, but I believe that applies, regardless of whether they sign up or go view another hub or not).

Content is Always King But Promotion Is Queen
Content is Always King But Promotion Is Queen

If Content Is King, What’s Queen!

Well, hopefully these have ramblings have provided you with a few more helpful tips to earning more via HubPages.  There are plenty of places that discuss how to be a better writer and improve the way you present your content.  I don't think that is the area that most of us is falling short in, when it comes to writing online.  The issues is generating money, or more money.  We want to get paid!  So we have to thing about MORE than just the writing aspect.

It’s been said over and over again that content is king. I agree, I totally agree, but after content, then what? If content is king, what is queen, and what’s the next move? Because whatever it is, that’s what we should be doing once we’re sure we have an ample amount of content. When you are sure your hubs not only meet the necessary standards for publication, but that you have done enough tweaking to make SOMEONE interested in reading them, it’s time to refer to the Queen. I for one believe that amounts to promotion.

While HubPages is really great about allowing us Hubbers to do pretty much as we please, in, and with our hubs, as a result, some people tend to get too lax.  HubPages is not just a library for us to store our “books” until someone decides to mosey on over and “check one out”. If that is your view, then you at least better stop leaving it solely up to the librarian to help you get paid! For those who don’t mind not making any money with their hubs, and who enjoy “just being able to write” and have a few people read their work, I salute you! As for me, I just cashed my last unemployment check, and I need to start seeing residual income that I can rely on.  I’m trying to generate some real reoccurring cash!  I have concluded, in order to do this effectively, and more quickly, some kind of self-promotion is defintely necessary.

Let me say that again, because there will be AT LEAST one person who leaves a verbally combative comment, because they THINK I said you can’t make any money unless you self promote. What I said was: In order to do this effectively, and more quickly, some kind of self-promotion is necessary. So you can wait for your earnings to trickle in, because eventually they will (somebody always goes to the library), or, you can discover creative and resourceful ways to increase traffic to HubPages, and make more money with your writing.

As you become an integral part of the Hub Community (through creating hubs and various networking sources), HubPages will begin to help you more and more by promoting you and your hubs in a number of ways. But in the meantime, and in between time, what can you do? Bow before the Queen, and start promoting those hubs!

Content Is King But Promotion Is Queen And Equally Important

KEEP THIS TIP IN MIND:

For those of you (like me) who play chess, you know that while the king is the central piece in the game and all attention is on safeguarding it, the queen is the one that is actually most instrumental in getting things done (kinda like men and women – no offense fellas). Losing sight of this fact can often result in loss of your Queen, which is a VERY COSTLY mistake. You can actually win the game without her, but it sure is a whole lot tougher! Keep that in mind when you think about promoting (or not promoting) your hubs.

Discover Regular Ways To Promote Hubs

In harmony with the concept of self-promotion, I made a baffling discovery last week. Something happened to double my earnings in less than a day, so needless to say, I’ve been discussing it ever since. I wish I could say I’ve been having the same results ever since, but I haven’t. To read about what happened, and how my income doubled overnight, read: my blog post that tells all about it. READ my brief experience and SEE my really cool results.

My conclusion, following the events of that week, is that I need to stop taking for granted the power of self-promotion.  There are many ways, that fall into the category of self-promotion, some conventional, and some more imaginative.  Whatever the case, it is important to discover effective ways to continually promote your writing and increase your writing income.

For those who are not use to commenting, networking, or engaging in any Hub activity, I encourage you to leave a comment, become a fan, and start doing things that will help you get connected and stay connected to the hub community.
