Welcome.

A conversation about belly dancing.

And on this day nothing happened.

Just kidding.

Today a manager where I work says to me, "We are going to have a themed event down the road and I was hoping you and your belly dancers would perform for it." Later in the day I was sitting with one of my dance students who also teaches dance and the same manager sat with us and told my student that she hopes we will dance at the event too. Well, my friend says, "I haven't been dancing in a while so I'd really have to get back in shape before making a committment like that." And the manager says, "Well, belly dancing is just like hula; you just get up and do whatever moves spirit tells you to do."

At this point it's obvious she has no clue of the huge amount of hours and dedication it takes to become good at any dance form. It wasn't my place to argue, but my friend gave it a try. She started with comments about how she wouldn't dream of doing a performance when she wasn't prepared because she took a lot of pride in her art.

People who have never belly danced often think it's just a matter of throwing on a costume and jiggling for an hour. I'm tired of trying to educate them otherwise. Now I just smile and nod.

Hubpages Gossip and Observations

Oct. 16, 2006

Staying in the top 6 is perhaps requiring more energy than I have right now. It takes constant deligence to stay up there. And I'm sure as more and more great writers come here, there will be a lot of turn over in the top 10.

I wonder how many new people make an account on hubpages each day.

I see my deleted articles have been purged from my list. I'm happy to have a cleaner list.

I just wanted to say that of all the blogs and forums I participate in, Hubpages has been the most efficient as far as down time. It doesn't crash on me frequently like Live Journal and 8Hop. They don't seem to close all the time for Maintenance like Flickr. I've just been very happy here.

I'm celebrating my first month on huppages. It took me a month to write 100 hubs I was proud of. Go me.

Write something

Oct. 17, 2006

First, I'd like to wish my older sister a happy birthday. She raises horses in TX.

Then I'd like to thank all my readers because you make writing so much more fun with all your comments and ideas.

I also get ideas from reading other hubs. And every day we have new writers here. If you are thinking of being a writer here, don't be intimidated. It's an easy interface to learn.
