Although for Christians, Easter is a serious holiday, it is also a time for new Easter dresses. It is time for dressing up and getting out of the winter rut.  Easter brings not only the celebration of the resurrection of Christ but also the beginning of the first gentle spring breezes and the reminder that winter is over or nearly so.

From little girls to mature women, the prospect of putting on a beautiful new dress is one of the nicest things about the way Easter is traditionally celebrated.

The pictures taken in front of the house with Easter baskets in hand will be treasured for decades to come.

Girls' Easter Dresses

There is nothing more adorable than a little girl all dressed up for Easter. When there are so many available at your fingertips on the Internet it almost doesn’t make sense to spend hours in the local stores.

Easter colors are traditionally pastels:

  • Pink
  • Blue
  • Mint green
  • Yellow
  • Cream
  • White

Often dresses are short sleeved so consider finding a sweater or other light wrap that matches the dress. The fabrics are generally light and sheer. Hats, purses, and new shoes complete the look.

Many families like to dress all of the girls in the family alike or in coordinating outfits. Sister dresses are popular at this time of year as are mother daughter outfits. If you decide to do this be sure to talk to your daughters. They may not like the idea of matching dresses at all and you could end up with a horrid start to a wonderful day. If your children are old enough to care then allow them the freedom to be uniquely themselves.

The dresses in the following slideshow can be purchased by clicking on the corresponding link in the Amazon sidebar.

Women's Easter Dresses

Just because a woman is old enough to drive, (or even older) doesn’t mean that she isn’t interested in a new Easter dress as well.  There are some beautiful dresses in women’s sizes as well as junior and plus sizes.  In the past navy blue and white was a very traditional combination for Easter attire but the possibilities are endless.  If you look good in white or cream then there is no reason not to have the colors and style you like.

Again, since many Easter dresses will be made of light fabrics and have short sleeves you may want to look for a matching wrap of some sort.  Maybe a Pashima shawl or light sweater will be perfect with the dress you choose.

Shoes, Purses, Hats, Oh My!

Shoes and purses finish the outfit for all ages.  If you are a hat person then by all means add the hat of your dreams to your Easter outfit.

It used to be that white shoes were only acceptable between Memorial Day and Labor Day but this is not true anymore.  Match your Easter dress with the same color shoes or create a dramatic look by using a contrasting color.

Don’t forget to add accessories for your most beautiful Easter look ever.

The dresses you posted reminded me of a "boo-boo" that I made not long ago. I got some real pretty fabric with glitter that features gingham and polka dot dyed eggs and made a few girls dresses. I went to market with them and everyone Oooed and Ahh'd over them but they wouldn't buy them. Then one customer hit the problem on the head. She bought a polka dot dress instead because she wanted one that could be worn all year (like the ones pictured in this hub). I won't be making that mistake again soon (at least not until I sell the ones that I have made)!
