Easy Alfredo Sauce
69Easy Alfredo Sauce
Here is how to make a yummy and quick Alfredo sauce that your family and friends will love (they will think you slaved over it!). I came up with this recipe on my own when I didn't have heavy whipping cream on hand (as the true Alfredo recipe usually calls for). It turns out cream cheese is a great tasting substitute and has less calories to boot!
Ingredients for my Easy Alfredo Sauce:
- 8 oz. tub (or block) of cream cheese plain or onion/garlic flavored (depending on preference)
- 12oz. can of evaporated milk (you can substitute 3/4 cup of any kind of milk (whole, 2%, 1%, or skim), plain soymilk, or plain ricemilk)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. garlic powder (not salt)
- 1 tsp. onion powder
Preparation: Mix all ingredients in a medium sized pot, set stove to medium heat, and cook all ingredients for 20 minutes (or until cream cheese has melted completely and is heated through). Stir occasionally as needed. Whisk is recommended for stirring it as it gets close to being done, as it is easier to get any cream cheese clumps that appear.
Serving suggestions: Can be served over any pasta. Makes about 4-5 servings. Tastes great with fettuccine pasta and homemade meatballs!
