Belly fat. Most women, and indeed most men, desire to have a slimmer firmer abdomen, and get rid of excess fat. There is nothing more annoying than persistent belly fat, making you feel less than confident, and less than great about yourself. If you are like most women, you probably wish that your stomach was flatter and firmer than it is. After having children and aging gracefully, many women tend to start to develop a tell-tale pot-belly around the midriff. But it does not have to be that way! Here are some easy belly-flattening exercises that with a bit of will-power and effort, will whip you into shape and make you look amazing.

The Stretch Crunch
One of the first stomach-flattening exercises you can start with is the stretch crunch. It is quite easy, even for beginners. First, you need to lie on your back, and extend your arms above your head, keeing your legs together. The next step is to tighten your stomach muscles and lift up your right knee. At the same time lift your shoulders from the floor, only slightly, and bring your arms forward. Keep the arms straight out in front of you. Relax your stomach muscles as you return to the a resting position. Repeat the same with the left knee. You can start with about ten or fifteen repetitions of this exercise.

The Twister
The next excellent belly-fat busting exercise is the twister. This might be a bit of a challenge for beginners, so make sure that you feel comfortable doing the first exercise this before doing the twister.
What you do is lie down on your back. Hold your hands together behind your head. You then cross your ankles and raise your legs so that your feet are slightly higher than your knees. As you lift your head and shoulders up off of the floor slightly, contract your stomach muscles and twist your upper body to the right to touch your left elbow to your right knee. Relax and return to the starting position. Repeat the exercise on the opposite side. Do ten to fifteen repetitions of this exercise.
This exercise will cause you to feel your abdominal muscles working hard. However,there is a difference between the ache of sore muscles and an injury. Doing stomach flattening exercises correctly and at a moderate level for beginners can help prevent injury.
Scissor Kick
The scissor kick is another great exercises to lose belly fat. Similar to the other exercises, you begin this one by lying on the floor. Place your arms out to the side with your palms facing down. Making sure your lower back is adequately supported, slowly lift your legs up to a 45 degree angle and then open them into a wide V. Contract your stomach muscles as you lift your head and shoulders just slightly off of the floor. Bring your legs back together and cross them into an X. Uncross and spread back into a V. This exercise should be repeated about ten to fifteen times.
As a precaution, you shhould always talk to your doctor if you are concerned about any of these exercises to lose belly fat.

The twister will indeed work your abs. I do a variation of this one in my normal routine. Its a great exercise.
