A Little On Ground Beef

Ground beef and other ground meats have food safety issues not associated with whole cuts of meat. In a whole cut from a healthy animal, the interior of the meat is essentially sterile , even before cooking; any bacterial contamination is on the outer surface of the meat.

Ground beef comes mostly from the chuck, sirloin, and round, though the taste depends more on the amount of fat than on the cut of origin. The fat content of ground beef varies, so it’s important to check the label for this information.

Ground beef is an easy choice for a great family dinner. Choose from chilies, meat loaves, and burgers and that take under 30 minutes to cook.
