Easy Knitting Patterns

Easy Knitting Patterns

I started knitting about 4 years ago in an effort to create baby items for my daughter. I wanted to be able to knit her cute hats, mittens, and sweaters. I started out knitting a scarf in stockinette stitch using this blue acrylic yarn. I was using a pretty easy knitting patterns. It was a twisty yarn with a thread plied into it. It was a pretty color, but oh it was awful to knit with. The metal needles I was using would get stuck on the thread and it was hard to distinguish my stitches. Finally I gave up when I realized it was not a relaxing activity for me.

I didn't have any interest in knitting for a few months until I started cloth diapering my daughter. All the people on the cloth diapering message boards had their children in these beautifully knit wool pants made with handpainted yarn. I was in love with the colors, but not with the pricetag some of these in demand knitters had. So I was determined to pick up knitting again in order to get my hands on this beautiful yarn and save some money.

I decided to try knitting again, this time with bamboo needles and wool yarn. I loved the way the wool yarn felt and the way it would glide over the needles. Plus the bamboo needles were so much quieter than using metal. Now I consider myself a very proficient knitter and I have accumulated quite a stash of hand painted yarn. I love to knit socks, hats, and mittens. I'm about to knit my first sweater, using an easy knitting pattern from Knitting Pure & Simple. I also love to help new knitters and experienced ones with finding easy knitting patterns for their library.

Beginning knitters may be turned off from knitting by complicated patterns and bad materials. I'm hoping to help those knitters find easy knitting patterns and just their favorite yarn and needles. Plus experienced knitters like to have some easy knitting patterns in their library too. - 14 months ago
