Eating Well is the Best Revenge
55Redefine what and how you eat
Its not as hard as you may think. Try this. Think about the last time your weight and your clothes size made you feel good.. now, how were you eating then? A lot? A little? Think about exactly WHAT you ate and how often. Ok, now think about how you are eating now. Skipping meals? Small portions that leave you hungry? Diet pills? Diet drinks? Little or no excercise? Lots of excercise, little food? No water?
All of the above indicate an imbalaced nutritional program (diet). Eating well, means actually eating good food in good portions and excercise. No, I dont mean having the large pizza at Pizza Hut as a single serving, I mean having two slices and a small salad. Steak and potatoes is fine, just not the 14oz version!
Making the transition isn't hard, basically you continue to eat what you do now, just some adjustments.
- Up your vegetables, if you dont eat many now..choose the ones you like the best and go for it.
- Up your water intake. I know, this is a tough one. Start by replacing one soda or fruit juice with a bottle of water, and have a bottle of water between meals.
- Slow down the salt, and sodas. Check the salt in a can of soda..WOW...you can lose weight just by stopping the soda. Try the idea above to slowly cut out or cut down on sodas. As far as adding salt to your food...taste it before you add salt at the table. You may find that most resturant and packaged food doesn't need any additional salt.
- Like high-protien/low carb? Don't cut carbs altogether. Your body needs it for energy, so low and no carb diets can actually be harmful, so make sure you have enough carbs. For protein, try leaner proteins such as fish, chicken (not wings) lean red meats or meat substitutes.
- Fats? No need to cut those completely either. Just watch which ones you use.
The above ideas can get you started on revamping your eating habits without taking on a severe diet. This way also works well with families, so there is no drastic shift in what is eaten.
Good Luck!
