However, the trend is changing rapidly, thanks to different environmental awareness programs. Eco-friendly furniture is available in many furniture shops that conduct indoor and outdoor furniture sale. Eco-friendly patio furniture can be bought by conducting a thorough search in the furniture market. Even while choosing eco-friendly furniture, it is not necessary to comprise on quality, style and design. Any furniture material including wood, metal and plastic can be eco-friendly based on its preparation and manufacturing process. Buying green furniture can reduce our share of per capita carbon emission by a considerable amount.


Metal Furniture

Metal furniture is made using material like aluminum, wrought iron, stainless steel, and cast steel. Most of the metal furniture can be termed as eco-friendly because it doesn’t involve anything that spoils the atmosphere. Furniture made on metal products can be recycled and reused. Moreover, there are plenty of choices for metal furniture in terms of style and design. Each material in metal furniture has unique quality and it should be treated appropriately.

Wood Furniture

There is a myth that wood cannot be an eco-friendly product. However, wood can also be an eco friendly product depending upon its growth process. It is true that wooden furniture increases deforestation. Nowadays, a large number of trees are grown in plantations for furniture and construction purposes. Such materials can be favored when selecting wood furniture. Trees like teak, cedar, oak and pine can be grown in plantations and these materials can be used for furniture. Though wooden furniture cannot be recycled fully, it is durable and lasts much longer than many furniture materials.


Plastic Furniture

Plastic is another furniture material that is believed to be environmentally harmful. Though ordinary plastic is harmful to the environment, recyclable plastic can be termed as an eco-friendly material. Moreover, recyclable plastic can be used as an alternative for wood. Thus it indirectly helps in reducing deforestation. Plastic furniture is also available in plenty of attractive designs and it is easy to maintain. Plastic furniture can also be used for outdoor purposes as it is resistant to weather, decay and warping. With all these advantages, plastic furniture is very much affordable than other furniture.

Advantages of Going Green

Following the rising concerns about global warming, green furniture is favored by most people. There are plenty of advantages in using environmental friendly furniture materials. Eco-friendly furniture material reduces deforestation and this can bring plenty of benefits to our planet. The environment is protected when using recyclable plastic as ordinary plastic is potentially harmful to the environment. Moreover, it gives us a self satisfaction that we have done something beneficial to the environment.
