Join eBay's Green Team and Enter to Win $5000

Are you interested in winning $5000? I bet you are, and eBay is going to give you a chance to win. How? Just join eBay's Green Team and you can enter to win $5000 , and the eBay Green Team will donate $1 to RAFT, an organization that provides hands-on learning materials for teachers.

eBay has announced the eBay Green Team with energy and purpose. The Green Team is focused on the new slogan re + purpose: Turning Oldies into Goodies. The greenest product is the one that already exists.

eBay is embracing a whole new look on life, and on shopping, specifically shopping on eBay, encouraging customers to live a greener life and while they are doing so, look in their closets and cupboards for "vintage" items that they no longer want, then to turn to sell it to someone who does want it on eBay.

This is an interesting twist on a growing market of eco-chic green fashion, the growing trend to reuse and recycle, and the popularity of vintage items. eBay is actually the ideal place to sell used and vintage items as long as the seller is clear on what they are selling. eBay has already started this new marketing style with the World of Good site launched one year ago, and I think that we will see much more of this type of marketing and push towards green buying and selling as eBay is looking for ways to increase market share, and find a niche in the growing eco fashion industry.

eBay's Customer Base is Listening

As eBay pushes more into the environmentally friendly market, they are really getting back to what started them off in the first place, individuals selling odd items, and found objects to other individuals.  Regular people getting online, and selling what they no longer want, and getting some money to buy what they want instead.

eBay already has many customers that love to shop on eBay, looking for bargains and unusual items that cannot be found anywhere else.  As living green becomes more and more embedded in our global society, eBay being at the center of a unique look at green shopping can only help bring them new customers, and have their existing customers take a fresh look at eBay.

And who doesn't want to win an extra $5000 right now?

eBay's Push to Green Shopping Starts in the U.S.

eBay is only offering this sweepstakes to customers in the U.S. right now, although global customers can participate in the RAFT donation program. In the process, eBay is working to reach out to their customer base to "spread the word" about eBay's new Green Team, using their word of mouth network to get the word out to new potential customers.

Will this bring eBay the influx of new customers and traffic they are looking for? We will have to see. But their timing couldn't be better with the U.S economy still shaky, and people looking for creative ways to fill their wardrobes, buy Christmas gifts, and feel like they are contributing to something positive.

By promoting green selling and buying as a money saving process as well as a way to save the earth, eBay is coming forward with the freshest idea that they have produced in a long time.

By connecting with their customer base on Twitter and Facebook, they are updating their communications systems to be more in tune with their internet savvy customers. eBay is reenergizing their international network with this new green initiative. If they can keep it's positive momentum, then I think we will see eBay's customer base grow quite a bit in the next few years. In the meantime, do you want to win $5000? Well, if you do, just click here to join the Green Team, and you will be entered to win.

This makes a lot of sense and if you think about it eBay must be one of the biggest re-cycling centers in the world already, as you suggested people selling and buying 2nd hand goods that potentially would have been thrown away.

I agree. And it fits in with eBay's "bargain hunting" theme. Everyone can get a deal on eBay.

I've sold about 8 or 9 items on Ebay over the years and bought about the same, but this really makes me want to go scour our closets to see what goodies we don't really need. I'll check out that Green Team too.

Yes, I know what you mean. I have lots of stuff in my closets that are in brand new condition that I can sell.
