At the moment where ever you turn, you hear of large groups of people being laid off due to the economic downturn.

The sharemarket has fallen 50 per cent causing retirement incomes and savings to disappear. For many this will mean a delay in retirement plans. For many others they will have to say goodbye to their life long dream of retiring comfortably and have to possibly rely on family and/or work longer.

This will also cause unemployment to rise, because aging baby boomers will have to work longer than they initially planned.

I read an interesting article in the Sunday Morning Herald on the 24th January. It was talking about the economic downturn Australia is experiencing at the moment. It reported that "Harvard's Kenneth Rogoff and Maryland's University's Carmen Reinhart - found downturns typically endure for seven years after a servere banking crisis". It reports that economists who have been dismissed as alarmists have advised that if this downturn prediction turns out to be right, the unemployment rate will exceed the 11 percent mark.

And if this doesn't sound bad enough you should read Margaret May's article in the Geelong Advertiser. She talks about how by the year 2010 the baby boomer generation in Australia will reach the age of 65. By 2047 the percentage of Australians aged 65 and over will increase from 13 per cent to 25 per cent and so on and so on. This is going to greatly affect the number of aged care places available for the baby boomer generation.

I could go on and on revealing more of my research, but I'm not here today to spread doom and gloom.

I believe there is a solution and not just for the baby boomer generation.

The massive corporate downsizing taking place together with the aging baby boomers becoming increasingly interested in health and nutrition, has created a perfect storm for the health and wellness home business industry.
