Economic Depression Survival
75June 11
Break the FED. The healthcare plan will finish off the United States Banking system and the treasury. The only salvation will be HIGH taxes. All the promises of tax reduction were nothing more than lies and a thinking person knew it when heathcare reform was a campaign promise.
So, get ready for the taxes, the inflation and the exodus of American business to overseas.
Business will exit because they have to pay for the healthcare for every employee. Our church employees 22 people in childcare. We ill close the childcare the day the healthcare comes into effect. We simply can not afford the healthcare tax and parents will not be able to pay the higher fees for childrecare which will DOUBLE!
The GREAT, GREAT DEPRESSION is coming. Let's all sing, "Oh, How I love Obama!"
BTW - keep watch on CRUDE OIL - today $73 a barrel. Your local station will be at $2.75. on Saturday. There go more jobs and here come higher food costs.
update May 22
California is headed for unbelievable changes. With the vote failing to increase taxes, borrow more money and make other changes the state will fall into default. Unemployment is going to skyrocket, welfare recipients will be leaving in droves for other states.
In 2002 the state of California was advised to do something about illegal immigration. Rather than send them back across the border they filled their schools and their welfare rolls. This overburdened the system and the vote reflects voter frustration with the government to end the free ride with illegals.
The GREAT DEPRESSION has begun. Like dominoes the state governments are going to collapse under the weight of those leaving one state for jobs and welfare benefits. The millions that will leave California will go to neighboring states. Those states, already facing severe budget shortfalls, will collapse just as California did. The Federal government can't bailout all the states. The question is, Will Obama bailout out California?
update - 17 Feb. 09
The stimulus is anything but. Will it create jobs? No, the economists are almost in tears with this bill because it creates a lot of government agencies (a few thousand jobs to oversee spending) but does nothing for almost two years to help the economy or the taxpayer. There are increases to veterans and medicare but the middle class are going to get slammed pretty hard.
There is talk among senators of nationalizing the banks. There are plans to take over the auto industry. Unions have been given the exclusive rights over all government construction. Living in Mexico is beginning to look appealing. The changes being proposed make Cuba look like an island paradise for socialists.
(Update Comment 1-5-09)
The Obama Team may be on to something. A reduction in the income plus a tax reduction incentive for companies to hire new workers. Should the Banks stop stealing the Bailout money and go back to lending at reasonable rates and cut their usury FEES - there may be hope to forestall depression.)
Sorry to disappoint but the Obama Team is digging a hole from which we will not avoid the worst financial disaster the world has ever known. PRINTING another One Trillion dollars will create an inflation rate to rival those of African and South American nations. We can look forward to 25% unemployment.
Things are bad but the worst is still over the horizon. The average person is not aware that jobs are being lost at the rate of half a million a quarter. Nor do they know that companies are cutting back on inventory. And, cash assets are being moved to overseas accounts. What all this means is, “You ain’t seen nothing yet!”
What can you do?
1. Buy anything gold. Be smart and don’t fall for those companies selling gold on television. The after-Christmas sales by jewelers are a better investment. In the months to come gold will lose value but the loss will be at a much slower rate than securities or commodities. When inflation skyrockets, and it will because the Federal government is going to print cash in quantities to pay for new infrastructure and the value of a dollar is going to sink, gold will hold value.
Put the gold in a lock box at a large downtown bank (branches will be robbed so often most will close). Remember Bonnie and Clyde and gangsters? In a depression desperate people will do desperate things because they have little to lose. Oh, and be sure to keep your mouth shut about your investments. Don’t tell anyone!
2. Save every penny you can. Begin now to cut expenses. Your cable TV package can be cut. Don’t renew cell phone contracts. Get rid of as many contracts as you can. Those little things we consider as necessities will be luxuries in six months.
3. A depression is when people are not spending money because they haven’t got it and can’t get it. Joblessness is predicted to rise to at least twenty-percent in 2009. It could go as high as forty-percent meaning four people in ten don’t have a job. The United States has gone from a manufacturing country to a services country. Most of the consumable goods in the world today are made in China or another developing country. The United States has banks and pizza parlors. We can’t even build cars the rest of the world wants to buy. So what does this mean to you and your family?
You may be in the forty-percent. Insurance companies, computer software companies, dry-cleaners, hairdressers and the like are in service industries and people can live without services. Affordable food will be in great demand. Local grown will replace supermarkets. Fast food will be gourmet and for special occasions. The big chains will either fold or shrink to a few stores in major cities.
Your best bet is to seek out manufacturing employment. United States companies will have an edge over imports due to cost of labor and cost of transportation. Wages and benefits will fall and only the hardest working and smartest will find employment.
4. Things will become so bad that people with gardens will have to guard their plots with shotguns. The smart people will be talking with relatives who own land and arranging to live on the property or at least use a portion for a garden. It has been said that the United States, because of our loss of manufacturing, will revert to a third-world country if the depression deepens and lasts for three years. Food will become more valuable than gold.
The worst is coming. Some economists are painting scenarios of the depression in the United States being as bad as a nuclear war. I hope they are wrong but I doubt it. The time to prepare is now. The federal government is in the process of slowing the speed of the depression but they can’t prevent it. The people of 1929 had no time to prepare but you do. To survive you have to plan. Imagine crawling out of the rubble of a major disaster, what would you have to do immediately to survive without help for six months? Go do it now!

The history of Israel contains lesson after lesson of the people of God becoming to comfortable with the world. Saul, David and onward we read that when the people of God move away from God to embrace the world there is a day of retribution.
How did we get to doom and gloom forecast? Free trade!
The United States through trade policies of the last quarter century has moved downward to the lowest common denominator with the people of the world. In education when you have a class of thirty children and drop the teaching level to the abilities and skills of the lowest person in the room some students raise but the potential of the smartest and gifted drops substantially to a level closer to the lowest student. In economics the same principle applies.
A country that dismantles manufacturing, stops producing raw materials and becomes consumer rather than producer will nose-dive. For twenty-five years we have shipped factories around the world (think textiles in North Carolina). Those jobs were replaced with home-building (consumer), banking and service oriented employment. With nothing to sell to the world our GNP (gross national product) has dropped and thus recession/depression. Without producing we have nothing to sale.
Ethics and Christian values have all but evaporated from the country. It is estimated that over 80% of those under thirty-fice are doing some time of illegal drug. Employers complain, "He/she wants college grad salary but has only a high degree to do common labor with a month's vacation and sixty sick days a year!"
I'm not an Obama supporter, but what is your take on his plan for the New New Deal. Apparently some on the right scorn the idea that FDR had any effect on the Depression at all. Others point out that those practices employed many who would otherwise have been unemployed. what do you think?
The WPA and the CCC kept millions from stravation. In the end the sot of the programs, including TVA, depleted monetary resourses. WW2put millions of men and women in uniform with very low wages but wages nonetheless. Taking that many men out of the population also decreased the birth rate. Women filled the vacated jobs at half the wage. So, together these things ended the great depression.
Will the Obama plans work?
I sure hope so. I'm even praying those things do. But, economic history teaches that once the monetary resources are gone then inflation will skyrocket. The Carter years were every bit as tough as the early stages of the great depression. Luckily, we changed government from top to bottom, reduced taxes and put effective controls on banks and utilities.
It must be pointed out the recession of Carter was a combination of taxes and energy prices. Gas went fromt 45 cents to 75-1.00. If you were, like I was, earning 115.00 a week it was devestating. Our present disaster began when SEnator Shumer of New York sent his famous letter about Indy Bank and started the collase of banking and housing (the man is an idiot - he cried fire in a crowded theater).
As much as it pains some people to hear - without cheap fuel the economic recovery isn't going to happen. OPEC still holds the world in a stranglehold and indications are they will continue to cut production until they acheive financial dominamce over the west. Remember most of the OPEC countries hate the USA and any people opposed to Muslim ways of life.
Well, for the most part you get it.
And you had me up to the God part and illegal drugs.
Drugs are illegal so the govenment can have free-flowing revenue and growth.
God created marijuana, cocaine and opium.
Man created laws to combat human nature and control the population. It has failed miserably-by any account. And the LAW, not the drug is what creates problems.
Yes, the underlying cause of our collapse is free trade. We traded our work ethics, jobs and security for cheap socks and easy credit. The governmnt gained mega tax revenues from obscenely profitable corporations-which is what happens when we demand they "tax the rich". Our salaries crashed yet the tax coffers grew.
Now, the collapse is being hastened by do-gooders and socialists.
I only wish that we would end up as bad as European socialism, but realistically, that would be a huge improvement over where we are headed.
While I love reading blogs of people such as yourself, my heart cries when I realize that within a year or so most of us will no longer have blogs or internet access, except for government mandated "news" that we will be required to wait in line for.
The bottom of this is 100 times worse than we can imagine.
And our continued purchase of government propaganda and demonization of human nature will only make it worse.
Interesting article!
The DOW closed out over 8000 this week (April 12). Gas prices are up and down. The push is to entice people back into the markets. WAtch the price of oil this week, it will be a big indicator of deeper recession/depression.
In the reporting of unemployment people need to be aware the numbers put out each week often do not include those drawing unemployment. States fudge the numbers to bolster the state's economic ratings. States borrow money and they are rated like everyone else. Just as an individual has a credit score, so does a state.
Some counties in South Carolina have unemployment as high as 40%. The average in SC & NC is around 15%. The high schools and colleges will be turning loose a lot of students this summer and will find few jobs.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The government will have to borrow nearly 50 cents for every dollar it spends this year, exploding the record federal deficit past $1.8 trillion under new White House estimates. Budget office figures released Monday would add $89 billion to the 2009 red ink -- increasing it to more than four times last year's all-time high as the government hands out billions more than expected for people who have lost jobs and takes in less tax revenue from people and companies making less money.
I used to say i hope money is abolished.. but it isn't money that's the problem.. it's greed.. if people would stop hording things and remember that " you must spend money to make money" or rather if you want more businesses in the future you need to fund your present. for example instead of moving your massive cash pile to offshore try putting it into creating jobs. your profit will take a hit yes.. but if you're still making profits then you're not losing anything... profit is left over money.. if you want more in the future feed the present.. if every "fat cat" started this idea there would be more jobs and also more spending because most of the the money Americans get is spent on luxuries we think we need.. DUH.. my girl friend admits that when she see something "shiny" she gets it before she thinks.. but then she has 2 savings accounts and an inheritance. me im nearly broke and no job yet.
am i right or wrong here?? it seems to me that if i have have 100 rocks and Johny has 200 rocks and i'm using rocks as money. and he wants my bike im not using he'll buy my bike with some of his rocks i can then use those rocks to get a buddy of mine to buy a bike kit since it's not assembled i pay less rocks for it and i pay my friend so he's wroking for me now i pay another friend to put the bike together and sell it for another say 150 rocks now i made (we will say) 30 rocks.. and repeat.. eventualy i'll have a nice pile of rocks.. but oh no something happens and people dont want bikes becuause thers a rock shortage.. no wonder.. i have all the rocks.. so it seems if i take half or heck 1/3 of those rocks and find a way to employ the people who were buying my bikes.. then they will be able to buy other things from other people and THOSE peoples employees will buy my bikes.. yeah i wont have big profits but as long as im making enough rocks to run my company and have even a little left over for personal things you know "profit" then i havent lost any thing because in time the rocks will redistribute and things will be back the way they were. atleast i think.. am i even close???
The richest 1% and business will be taxed heavily to bail out the bad economic situation that corruption and greed has brought us to...we desperately need a health care system like Canada, France and other "not for profit" systems in place today (if you have not seen Michael Moore's "Sicko", GO RENT IT!). Obama is 100% correct when he says the present system is unsustainable. How can US companies compete with foreign competitors when they are dragged down with astronomical heath care costs? Until we get it together with health care, there will be very little job creation. Without union contracts limiting out sourcing of jobs, the trend of moving jobs over-seas where it is more profitable will continue, as sure as night follows day. Global corporations who line the pockets of our polititions now rule our country (if not the world). Profit is paramount and the corporations care less about anything else!
When are we going to wake up and legalize Marihuana? Is is as impossible to thwart as alchohol was and is scientifically proven to be much less harmful (many ill patients on prescribed Marihuana feel blessed that they don't have to swallow less effective "Big Pharm" chemicals that don't work as well). We can limit its use (like alcohol) and tax it. I gaurantee millions of people would benefit from its relaxing, peaceful buzz and stay away from harder, more destructive street drugs, alcohol and presciption pharma drugs. Plus, our justice system would be freer to focus on "real" criminals.
Make no mistake, we are in for a real rough time ahead...can you say "Depression"?...getting behind Obama to overhaul Health Care and pushing for legalizing pot (you may want to dampen the anxiety that a depression brings)are two steps in the right direction. Most of all, keep the faith and help your less fortunate neighbors and family members during these tough times.
the answer to economic woe - tax pot double the amount of alcohol. With so many pot heads unable to get jobs for fear of drug testing we can get them off welfare and working to afford the pot.
"With so many pot heads unable to get jobs for fear of drug testing we can get them off welfare and working to afford the pot."
Now THERES an idea! I'm not being sarcastic either, I've always wondered what the big freaking deal is that Big Brother wont legalize pot....
(Not that I personally like pot, but I WOULD LOVE to see narcotics legalized!!!!!!) Now THAT would be the motivator of motivators, and make hard times seem like a day at Disney Land! But NOOOOOO! Government isnt gonna ALLOW us to have the ability to make lighter of bad situations! Too Communist for that!
Don't be fooled by the recent stock market rebound; price/earnings ratios for stocks is very high and dividend pay outs are low...we are in the "eye of the next storm". If you have substantial money in stock mutual funds it would be wise to convert to bonds or money markets. The next down turn (crash) will be devastating and will take a very long time to get back to todays prices. With the last of the baby boomers hunkering down and not spending (consumer spending is 70% of our GDP) and the fact that our nation is bankrupt and continues to go to war all over the globe, we are in a heap of trouble. Savers like the Chineese have the capital to build factories and create real jobs. What is the chance of large manufacturing companies setting up shop in the US?...quite small, I believe. Unless we stop being the cops of the world (we have military in 120 nations!) and stop the insane spending and work to cut down our incredible dept, our standard of living will fall towards third world status faster than you can say "depression"

Well, I think we Christians are doing the Lord a disservice with such a doomsday outlook. God is in control. I have been listening to a series of sermons the past week by Andrew Wommack. here is one of them C:\Documents and Settings\Donna\Local Settings\Temp\sky_falling.htm
