"I could hardly bear the cold and the snow not at all. I was lonely and I felt terrible. Then I thought of my fellow countrymen who play in Ukraine or Russia. If they could survive there, than surely I could make it in Croatia, which is far less cold," said this left sided forward when he finally made it to the first team of Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2003. He came to Croatia a couple of years before as a 15-year old boy looking to start a professional footbal career in Europe.

Dudu is now a naturalized Croat in love with his new homeland Croatia and his Croatian wife Antonija. He no longer plays for Dinamo, but he is a member of Arsenal, one of the most respected teams in the world, and he is also the top star of the Croatian national team.
