Best Way To Lose Weight
"Weight Loss Secrets and Tips"
Before I start talking about how to target that flabby beer belly and those fat thighs, I want to make some general statements about weight loss that apply to everyone, no matter what your target area might be.
Losing weight is not as difficult as everybody makes it out to be.
The problem is that they take the wrong approach.
First of all, let me just say that the answer is not in a pill, a supplement, or some fancy diet.
The diet plans that seem to be effective, like weight watchers and Jenny Craig, are simply pre packaged meals that control your portions. There is nothing special about the food itself. The key is in eating small portions 5 to 6 times a day instead of eating 2 or 3 big meals a day. It is all about ramping up your metabolism.
These diets do work, but those pre packaged meals can be quite expensive and financially out of reach for most people. You can do it on your own and save yourself a lot of money. There are also some little tricks to eating the right combination of foods that I will reveal in a little bit.
The second point I want to make is that you have to get off you rear and do some exercise. When most people hear this...they psych themselves out immediately and start making excuses and listing reasons why they can't exercise. Here are a few of the standards:
- I don't have time to exercise.
- I can't afford to join a gym or buy workout equipment.
- I am too tired when I get home from work to exercise.
- I am too out of shape or too old to exercise.
- I hate exercising.
"Here Are My Responses To Those Excuses"
The truth of the matter is that it really doesn't take that much exercise. If you have a weight problem right now, chances are that you are not exercising at all. You do not have to spend 1 or 2 hours a day. 20 to 30 minutes a day is all you need to do to get your metabolism in gear again so that it will start burning fat. If you don't have 20 to 30 minutes a day exercise, how much time do you spend watching TV everyday? That's what I thought!
You don't have to join a gym. Walking, bike riding, sit ups, and push ups are all the exercise you need to implement a successful weight loss program. Once you start exercising, and do it everyday, you will notice an increase in your energy levels. I get up a few minutes early every day to ride my bike 2 miles. It takes me 10 minutes to do 4 laps around my block which is exactly 2 miles. Sure I am tired when I get up in the morning but once I get out and start pedaling I feel much better. Since I have started doing this I feel energised the whole day at work. Not only that, doing cardio first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, burns 300% more fat.
You are never too out of shape or old to workout unless your doctor tells you this. If you think you have a problem here, than you should consult your doctor before beginning an exercise program. My guess is that he will encourage you to exercise. Start out slow and gradually add more to your exercise routine.
You will find that over time you will look forward to your exercise and be able to do more and more as you go. The body responds to exercise in a positive way. The more you work it, the more it is able to do. Most people have it in their head that exercise is some horrible drudgery that is painful and boring. This is far from the truth and if you start slow and are consistent, your body will respond and you will feel the changes in your energy levels.
How To Get Rid Of The Beer Belly
"Or Any Belly..."
This is the main problem area for men in general. It is where most male bodies will store the largest percent of it's fat deposits. It is however, easy to target and you can make it go away.
The first step may be the hardest for most. You have to stop drinking beer, that is, if in fact it is a true beer belly. Actually, you need to stop drinking everything that isn't water. This is one of the most important steps that anyone has to take if they are going to lose weight. You need to drink water and drink lots of it!
There was a fellow I worked with that lost 25 lbs in 3 months simply by giving up sodas. Human beings were meant to drink water and water alone. What about milk, you ask? Dairy products were not meant for human consumption. The best thing you can do is to get rid of them completely. Do not listen to the propaganda that you see on TV. You can get more calcium from a small glass of carrot juice. The human body has a hard time digesting dairy products. Milk naturally occurs to nourish baby cows. You are not a baby cow.
Once you replace your beverages with good old water, you can start an exercise program to target that big belly. In 1996, I went from a 46 inch waist down to a 38 inch waist in about 9 months time. I accomplished this by doing sit ups every day and by walking. The walking came later and was something that I did 2 or 3 times a week. The sit ups became a daily routine that I never missed.
I say sit ups but I was actually doing "crunches". I have a degenerative lower disc and my back bothers me just about every day. It is something that I have learned to live with but I still try not to aggravate it. I can't do normal sit ups with out a lot of pain. So I purchased an "Ab Roller". The Ab Roller supports the back of your head and takes a lot of strain off your lower back. You don't go all the way up like a normal sit up but it hyper targets the abdominal muscles, which is what you need to do if you want to get rid of that beer belly.
When I first started doing crunches, I could only do about 25 with out stopping. I would do sets while I was watching TV at night. I made sure that I did at least one set every day no matter what. I found that if I tried, I could always do a few more every day. Within a month, I could do 100 crunches with out stopping. When I was able to get into my size 38 waist blue jeans, I could do the Ab Roller for 30 minutes without stopping. I stopped counting repetitions once I got to where I could do 500 at a time.
This is a very simple program to follow. It will take you less than 30 minutes a day to do the exercise. Drink lots of water (nothing else) and eat 5 to 6 small snacks a day instead of 2 or 3 big meals. Give up dairy products all together and eat lots of veggies and fruit. Stay away from food that comes in packages, boxes, and cans. They are full of preservatives, and lots of other un-natural things that are poison to your body.
I am currently on a mission to lose 100 lbs this year. I have lost 35 lbs so far (May 19th) and am well on track to achieve my goal. Below are some excerpts from my weight loss blog. Come watch me lose 100 lbs and learn what I am doing to lose the weight so that you can too. I am giving away all my secrets and tips and am always searching for new methods and techniques to try.

How To Get Rid Of Those Thunder Thighs
The basic principles are the same, but you target another area of the body with your exercise program. The best exercise to target your legs is walking or bike riding. If you are really big or if you spend a lot of time on your feet, you may want to consider the bike riding first. I have problems with my feet hurting, so I prefer to ride a bike instead of walking.
I also had ortho-scopic knee surgery a couple years ago so low impact works best for me. The choice is yours. If you start walking and it causes you pain, then look for an alternative. Being overweight is very hard on your feet, knees, and back. This is just another reason to work hard at losing weight and better your health.
Implement healthy eating and regular exercise and you will achieve your goals. Stay away from diets that claim you will lose more than 10-15 lbs per month. Losing weight at a rapid pace is not good for you and more than likely is just severe water loss that will come right back. Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to weight loss.

the belly's always the hard one to lose... I want to go back to having a 24 waistline from a 29...
Great post. It really is true. Altough I knew all about this before but I still find a hard time implementing it to myself.
I know it's not too let yet :)
Great article. I started exercising about 8 years ago, when I quit smoking. I gained a little weight after quitting, but I've lost it and toned. Where before I had an average body type and was unhealthy, now I'm average and healthy. As I get older, it is a bit more difficult. I tend to push and get sore. I'm not 20 any more and I forget that. :-)
One of the main reasons I exercise is so I can enjoy eating without looking like one of your pictures. The other benefit is, of course the health ones.
great read.

Here are a few more tips to do great.
Swimming is the best exercise if you think your too tired to work out, trust me, the water is an instant pick-me-up. Plus its fun. I swim almost everyday, and when I have extra time and energy I do push ups, sit-ups, leg raise, and stretches. My swim routine is custom to target cardio, the mid section, and the inner thighs. Its easy to make or tweak your own routine into something better for you.
1.OK, first I get in and do 2 laps (1 lap is there and back) of frog swimming. This should work out your inner thighs if doing them right. I face down, with my head above the water, and kick my legs out like a V then bring them back together (your knees should bend). And i try not to use my arms other than to keep me afloat.*Tighten your lower abs while doing this after about a week to toughen it up.
2.Next I do 2 laps of freestyle (arm over arm facing up) When you do this it is important to use your side abs to stretch out and then tighten back up to pull you forward. If doing it right, your left side of your body should be pointing to the sky while your left arm if extending out, and vice versa.*You can easily make this technique harder by crossing your legs at the ankles and not using them for power.
3. Is the same as #2, but you turn over on to your stomach. Do 2 laps.
OK that's it! 3 easy steps. The hardest part is getting in the pool.
Plus as a bonus you get tan gradually because your not in the sun too long, but long enough to get vitamin D and a little color each day. This is great incentive, it helps encourage me to stick to it. I burn in the sun so easily, but my workout is under 20 min. I'm actually building a tan (from pasty and pudgy to tan and tone). I'm so happy with the results so far, and its only been about 3 weeks tops.
Oh and these exercises wont hurt your knees or back.
Once you get use to these exercises, and the sun, you can do two or more sets of each one. Try doing only 2 laps of the same one at a time to give different muscles a break. And, for the tanning part, alternate swimming face down and face up so you develop an even tan and don't burn.
-Remember to at least do something everyday that is targeted toward your goal. GOOD LUCK:)

Sweating is a good thing, but you might need to drink even more water. I drink at least a gallon a day.
