72Trace your family history through the internet
Years ago we had very little help in tracing our family trees. They had to send applications by snail mail. Waiting weeks or even months for a reply, only to find that they were not part of their family line after all.
Now it is much simpler with the aid of various web sites designed especially for this. Most of these have are very user friendly. Once you become a member ask questions. If you are looking for a particular family line, offer to share your information and receive help. Often by doing this you will find people that have done more research than you, which will save you heaps of research.
Do not give out all your information, until they give you a little in return. I found some people are take from you and never help you at all. So be wise.
Mailing lists are another great way of accessing information. Make sure your virous protection is up to date before you download information into your computer

Tracing your families health history
Hereditary diseases are passed on from one family member to another, from one generation to another. As children inherit the fathers blue eyes or brown hair, they can also carry their parent's diseases in the genes. Genes and chromosomes actually exist in pairs, and form at conception. These will form the traits in our children and their children.

Duchess oblunt. Do not leave it too long. As you now know peoples memories are not so good as they get older.
Years ago my sister started tracing our family tree but couldn't get further back than our grandparents. It seems that resentments and quarrels had led to estrangement on both sides of the family, which is sad for the younger generations.
Nemingha, yes it happens in all families. Dont let that stop her though. She can still go in to so many directories and find information. Other family members cannot really stop her from searching. As long as you know your grandparents names. If you get birth certificates it should have parents names on them. Good luck
Thank you for your hub on genealogy, I have been off and on trying to trace my fathers family tree but it's almost impossible with of them passed already. But I haven't given up yet. Thank you for sharing it. Godspeed. creativeone59
creativeone, love your name... do not give up. if you do not have any records start with parents names and look for their birth or marriage certificates one I think from memory will give you their parents names. Cheers

GREAT HUB
It's nice that you give so much information. You state you need to be careful doing that, but you freely have given us much. So thank you for that.
While I find i am spending much more time on other areas of interest, this has always been something I have worked on in the past.
A few years ago, I tried on my husband's side of the family and was stumped pretty quickly. Reading your hub has started the itch again. I think I will read some of the links and other material you have provided.
This looks like a good place to get started.
