Election Aftermath

Well, election is now over and we have elected a new President. Whether I voted for Obama or not, I wish him well in all his undertakings. Our country is at a crossroad and Obama needs all the support and prayers of this country. There is so much concern, fear, hope with Obama's selection as the President of this great nation. A lot of people still don't know him....news reporters made similar comment about Obama and how we will not know his stand on important issues until he is in the White House. This to me is pretty scary because we should not have been placed in this situation of doubting and questioning. It is too bad that this is what we face today.

When I look at the young people's joyous face during the victory speech of Obama, I wonder how they would feel if Obama broke his promises. Will they become as disillusioned as some of us are? Will they lose their trust in government? Will they continue to be engaged in the political process? I look at the innocent faces and wonder, do they know or understand the impact of higher taxes? Do they know that as they graduate and join the work force, their taxes will increase. Most technical grads will earn close to slightly over $50,000 as their beginning salary in some high cost areas. Will they continue to be happy when they see what their bring home pay is after taxes are taken? I doubt they will. That is why, I say to all, we need to continue to be vigilant with our elected officials. After all, there is strength in numbers and as long as the American people put their party affiliations for the common good of this country, we can make a difference....we can effect change. We do have the power to effect change by letting our elected officials know our stand on important issues.

So in the words of Senator John McCain, let us all stand up for what we believe in!
