Election eve disclosures: non-relevant though relevant
71
It won't be fair to blame the ruling party (Congress) alone for allowing agencies like CBI, STF, vigilance and other law enforcement departments to make sensational disclosures or carry out tax raids in the houses of political leaders and people related to opposition parties in any manner. Other parties also took the advantage of law enforcing agencies when they were at the helm of affairs. The purpose of such raids is not to unearth the corruption but to take political advantage of the situation. Recent raids in Jharkhand state involving former Chief Minister Mr Madhu Koda, and his associates, involving huge sum of public money, are timed to spread hatred in public to such political leaders and at the same time suggest that Congress neither favor corrupt practices in public life nor favor corrupt politician. The Congress party's denial is difficult to digest that it was not knowing of the
raids conducted on former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda's
residence and his associates' offices across the country. Is it possible? Why do the Congress forget that public memory is not so short. Congress has done it earlier in Bihar by supporting RJD Govt. at a time when majority of people (so called "Janta" ) were trying to get out of the clutches of RJD's and Congress has to bear the burnt of its mistake. Same mistake Govt. repeated first by supporting JMM in formation of Govt. in Jharkhand and later on helping Madhu Koda to become CM and afterwards supporting him to run the Govt. Congress has taken it granted that people are fool and they donot understand such tricks. Voters has become more intelligent than earlier and now they try to understand intricacies of such tactics.
Only problem, voters face nowdays, is that alternatives are not available and if available at all, these are in no way better than the existing lot. Money, power, dishonesty has become the rule of the day and poor, honest and sincere people can not win against corrupt people in elections. Reason is crystal clear. India is not America. You can not spread your message through media if you are not a public figure. Illiteracy is responsible for misuse of vote. Intellectuals do not prefer to vote as they donot find a good choice. They have to choose the worse among worst. Until and unless poverty and illiteracy is removed, corruption will always exist and corrupt will have fare chances to rule the country.
