Electric Drum Set

Electric Drum Set

You can thank Gutiar Hero and Rock Band for bringing the Electric Drum Set back to the forefront. I have been playing drums for years and have always owned an acoustic kit because honestly they have always sounded better untill now.

I had lost a little bit of my drumming passion until recently when I discovered Rock Band. As a drummer I hand a lot of fun playing along with some of my favorite songs. At the same time I was infactuated with the electric drum set that I was playing and wondered "was this as far as the came after all these years?". Then I checked out the Gutir Hero kit. I was a little more impressed but it was still nothing to write home about but I was having a lot of fun.

I was having enough fun I started searching the web for electric drum sets and found out that while these video game kits were fun, the real things had come a long way.

Take the new Roland for example while a little pricy, this thing sounds like puts almost every acoustic to shame on sound quality and then you never have to tune them. You can add a double bass pedal, it uses a real hi-hat stand (not just a controller) even the cymbols have different sounds depending on where you strike them.

Now while I may not wish to spend $6000 for a new kit right now you can pick up a used set on e-bay for a fraction of that price. Now I know where my money is going.

So thank you Guitar Hero and Thank you Rock Band for renewing my passion in Drumming!
