Many of us are trying to find ways of saving money in this economic downturn. We have tried cutting back on the types of food that we buy, the times we go see a movie, and other such luxuries. One area that is difficult to save money is the amount of money we have to put into our car in order to gas it up.

Gas is essential in order for our vehicles to work and without it we would be hard pressed to go anywhere. If you are a college student or living on your own why not purchase for yourself a vehicle that does not run on gas. Electric mopeds are a smaller form of motorcycles.

But you won’t be confusing them with motorcycles. They look like bicycles that have been transformed and built with an electrical engine. This engine is battery powered and usually will not be able to reach more then 50 miles per hour. This makes them ideal for short distances and normal road use - but don’t expect to use it on the highway.

Electric mopeds
are becoming all the rage - especially among the younger generation - because they are relatively inexpensive and teenagers as young as 16 are able to drive them with little difficulty.

I have never ridden an electric moped, but I have owned and operated several gas powered mopeds, which can be great fun to drive. I think as long as they have a pretty decent range, an electric moped could be very appealing...
