Electrolysis At Home is done by purchasing home electrolysis kits. These kits are battery operated or electricity operated machines that help the patient remove hair by themselves without seeking professional help. The FDA has approved of their use only for easily visible body parts like the arms and legs. The home electrolysis kit commonly available in the US is range from about $20 to $200. There are many advantages and disadvantages associated with home electrolysis. The advantages of doing Electrolysis At Home are that it is cheaper than getting professional hair removal by electrolysis done. Hair removal can be done in private and at the convenience of the patient. There is no need to schedule and appointment with a professional. For patients who cannot find a qualified electrologist close by, buying an electrolysis kit may be helpful. Electrolysis at home helps the patient avoid the repeated hair removal sessions required for professional electrolysis treatment. The disadvantages of home electrolysis are that electrolysis should be carefully done by destroying each individual hair follicle. The patient needs good vision and a steady hand therefore hair in hard to reach places cannot be effectively removed. In addition, electrologists fine tune their skills after years of practice, trying to perform electrolysis on your own without proper training and technique will only bring you painful treatments with in-effective results.

The electrolysis process is long and arduous and can also be very painful because the fine probe that conducts the electricity to destroy the hair follicle has to be repeatedly injected into the skin. Patients with conditions like diabetes, hepatitis, pregnant and nursing mothers should not attempt electrolysis at home. Electrolysis should not be done if the skin in the treatment area is affected by warts, acne, moles and on sunburned skin. Electrolysis At Home is not as safe or effective as getting the procedure done by a professional.
