If you have more than one dog that you are working at a time, you may want to save a lot of time by training all of the dogs at once, rather than training one at a time. And you can do this by using a dog training collar unit that come with one transmitter and multi dog receivers.

It is just as easy to use a multi dog system as it is single dog system. Each dog gets a different receiver that is usually color coded. The trick is to know which dog is wearing which color coded receiver.

On your transmitter, you will also have the same color codes and different toggles that will enable you to correct one dog without correcting the entire lot. Some multi dog systems will allow you to train up to six dogs at a time. You can use one transmitter that will enable you to train three dogs or a different unit for each dog, although it is simpler going the one transmitter route. You just have to be sure which dog is wearing which color.

To make things simple on yourself, make sure that when you take your dogs out, you make them wear the same color coded receivers each time. If you have to write this down somewhere, do that. You will soon get to know each dog's personality and traits so it will get easier each time you go out with them to train.

When you are training your gun dogs by using training collars as corrective devices, it is ineffective to correct a dog that is not doing anything wrong. This may undermine your previous training efforts. For this reason, it is imperative that you know which dog is doing something wrong when you are using the transmitter.

Tne problem that some trainers have with using the same system on multi dogs is that different dogs need different levels of stimulation to get them to obey instructions. When you have the same transmitter, you may be sending too strong or too weak correction to a dog that needs stronger or less stimulation. This is something to consider when you are thinking of using multi dog training systems versus single dog training systems.

It is also advisable, even when you are using the multi dog system, to take some time with each of the dogs individually to get them to train at home. Obviously, you will not want to do this on the field, but by spending extra time with them training at home, you may find that you will have better results on the field.

When you first decide to start working more than one dog, you may want to start with only two at a time. It is not advisable for the novice trainer to start training six dogs at one time with a multi dog system. You are better off to understand how the transmitter and receivers work, as well as the time and energy it takes to train a dog (although these dog training collars cut the time in half) before you start taking on the task of training multiple dogs. However, once you have mastered the use of the dog training collar and successfully trained your first dog, you will find it just as easy to train several dogs at a time.
