There are lots of different ways to eliminate stretch marks. People often do not know which type of treatment they should undergo as there are simply so many. But many of them do not work effectively, and people lose hope on getting rid of them altogether. It is best to do some research to see on what may work and what doesn’t.

Myth #1: There are lots of different medical treatments for getting rid of stretch marks

At the moment, there is only one surgical method that can help to stop the condition. This is abdominoplasty. However, this treatment can only remove the stress marks which are found around the stomach. It doesn’t always work on everyone and can be very expensive. It’s main function was not to even to eliminate stretch marks.

There are other medical procedures like laser treatment and dermabrasion. The problem with dermabrasion is that it isn’t very effective at loosening the stretch marks. But laser treatment has found to be fairly successful at hiding the stretch marks. As it is a new method, it is still unsure if it will last for a long time.

Myth #2: Getting a tan can help to get rid of stretch marks

People believe that if they get a tan, they are less likely to have stretch marks in the future and cannot see them as the skin becomes darker. This is totally wrong. Getting a tan doesn’t help to eliminate stretch marks in any way whatsoever and even worse, can make them stand out even more after the tan has faded. This is because the stretch marks are scars, and it is well known that scars cannot change colour; even when colour has been applied to it. Tanning isn’t also a safe when done improperly.

Myth #3: Make-up can be used to cover them up.

Make-up isn’t a treatment to permanently or even significantly a temporary solution. They just cover the scars up for a small amount of time. If you decide to wear some whilst being at the beach, even water resistant make-up fades away after a few hours.

Myth #5: A simple stretch mark product is the solution to the large problem

There are so many of these products which claim that they can eliminate stretch marks easily. But there is a large problem with these kinds of goods that have sometimes given themselves a bad reputation. It is because lots of them do not work properly as they contain cheap ingredients.

Overall, the best thing to do when trying to eliminate stretch marks from the body is to try out various creams and other treatments. If you have the money, go for something more permanent such as laser removal, as it has so far proven to be fairly effective for people.
