Eliminate Allergies -- Seriously!

One of the most frustrating things, to me, is the prevalence of allergies in the world. We're a plagued people! Sure, we had allergies in my family when I was growing up, but as far as I knew, everyone went to the doctor and had their allergies completely cured.

That's right. I said that my family's allergies were cured.

We didn't endure injections or extensive bloodwork (or scratch testing... yikes!) or pain, and we didn't waste time while doctors prevaricated because they didn't know how to fix the problem.

If you have pollen or other outdoor allergies, that photo is probably making you cringe. Look at all those allergens he's releasing into the air!

Thanks to a Dr. Devi Nambudripad and her combination of Eastern and Western medical practices, though, you won't have to cringe (or sneeze or carry Benedryll or rub your eyes or modify what you eat) anymore. Seriously.

Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique

So here's what they do to you.

Using neuromuscular sensitivity testing (which, to you, will just look like they're pressing against your outstretched arm), they find out to what you are allergic and how much. It's possible that your body rejects negatively to certain foods or environmental allergens without you even knowing it!

Then they use acupressure and chiropractic therapy while you hold a small vial of the allergen. Some practitioners will do this twice with an interval in between. Either way, now you're done with this treatment!

The treatment is actually the easy part; it's the 25 hours after the treatment that can be tricky because you have to avoid that allergen completely for that time. It's easy if you're being treated for milk and never consume milk products anyway, but if you're being treated for cat dander you also cannot expose yourself to any animal dander at all for the 25 hours.

Sometimes an allergy will take more than one treatment to be completely cured, but it's also possible that after that "waiting period" you are not allergic anymore!

But Now, the "Downside"

Most things that sound Too Good To Be True, well... are too good to be true.

The NAET Wikipedia article will tell you that there is "too little evidence" of positive results in NAET patients and that the technique is largely discredited in the modern medical community.

Well, sure. Technically, to have credibility in the medical community, hundreds upon hundreds of official tests using the Scientific Method have to be performed. The information has to be written into a cohesive article and published in reputable medical journals.

Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique has not existed long enough (or generated enough "buzz") for these tests to have happened. Yet.

But let me share with you one of my specific experiences with NAET, and maybe it will convince you to do a little more research and maybe to try it yourself.

A Disabled Child - Not So Disabled Anymore

My sister's birth was complicated. She came about a month early, spent weeks in an incubator, and eventually was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.

As with many premature babies, her immunities were not sufficiently developed. We almost immediately noticed countless allergies. Milk, nuts, wheat, certain kinds of sugars, mold, chocolate, and various medications. And even the foods to which she was not allergic, she seemed to have serious trouble digesting. She also seemed to be highly likely for developing asthma (if she didn't have it already). All of this was in addition to the physical and mental deficiencies she was suffering as a consequence of being born early and with CP.

Too much for any kid.

My mother (a MD trained in Western medicine) began searching for "alternate" ways of treating any of my sister's problems. She discovered reiki (energy healing), massage, and then came across NAET.

We all began receiving treatment there, and literally overnight some of our allergies were cured. My lactose-intolerant brother could now drink milk. And after several treatments, my sister was able to start eating regular baby food. Now my whole family enjoys an allergy-free life.

So maybe the science of it isn't proven yet, but every experience I've heard of with NAET has been resoundingly positive.

Abhinaya -- Thanks for commenting! It's very frustrating to me that more people don't know about this thing that could change their lives for the better!

A couple fo recent studies conculded that the increase in allergies and asthma in babies can result from an increasing age in the fathers and the failure to breast feed. I think some holistic and alternative approaches can be very good for eliminating allergies - they worked for me.

Patty -- I definitely think that breastfeeding is more important than a lot of people realize. The more open people become to "alternative" medicine, the better off we'll all be.

Great info..I hope this hub will help others to stop suffering, at times, needlessly!!I heard that many allergys can be cured by moving to another country-climate! although i don't know where i heard this!

compu-smart -- Allergies seem to be a fickle, misunderstood thing. Climate change is just one of the things that can inexplicably make them disappear! Thanks for commenting! :)

Your right about allergies, it can get really frustrating having a stuffy nose when all I want to do is smell roses.

Thanks for the hub! Personally my allergies are so bad I sneezed just LOOKING at the photo of the dandelion! I think it is one of the greatest problems with the least real solutions that we have in this day and age and any new discoveries or technologies that can be tried should be seriously investigated!

Thanks, Woody and Research Analyst! It's certainly worth a try, and since NAET is covered by many insurance policies, what do you have to lose?

" not enough evidence" Why is it that the drug companies can release studys that show a drug if " effective" yet on that little tiny paper that comes with it they then tell you the real deal, clinical trials for drugs are a shot in the dark, is somethign that can cause anal itching really efective? If you have a rash on your face and I throw acid on it, does that count as removing the rash? Great article, sorry for my rant...I need midol...or guydol..or something

Drug companies can do it because they have enough money to do it, funnebone. I'm pretty sure that's all it boiils down to, unfortunately. Whenever you treat your body with medicine -- Eastern or Western -- you're taking a risk, and you should know that risk. Fortunately with NAET, there really isn't a risk, especially if you think it's all "hokey pokey" or whatever, because all they do is acupressure.

This sounds very interesting. I've never heard of this. I guess those pet lovers with allergies can now have pets without the reaction, huh?

helenathegreat profile image

That's one lame excuse to get rid of a pet eliminated! I feel like it's hard for Westerners to make sense of it if they're unfamiliar with Eastern medicine, but it's so worth giving it a chance if you have allergies or sensitivities.

I can personally attest to the fact that NAET works. Last fall I suddenly developed multiple food allergies: my throat would close up and/or I would have severe gastro intestinal discomfort.  In additional to my direct allergies I was allergic to Tyramine, a monoamine compound derived from the amino acid Tyrosine. I was given a two-page list of foods to avoid, including wheat (and all wheat relatives) and soy/tofu (I am a vegetarian). I am a petite person to begin with but I started to lose a lot of weight. I went from about 110 pounds in October to 92 pounds in February. I was 'clinically malnourished', and my BMI was only 15. I felt like I was fighting for my life, and although I felt well, I was constantly hungry, though without enough tolerable food to eat, and I could see my ribs which sickened me. Whenever I had an allergic reactions I would take Apis 30ch, a homeopathic remedy, which saved me several times. I also have an Epi-pen, just in case though. My naturopath started to give me NAET treatments and I have been able to slowly add foods back into my diet....slowly, and still using a rotational basis, which can be frustrating as well (not to eat the same foods more than every 3 - 4 days). I now weigh about 96 and have at least 9 more pounds to gain to be within my range. I should add that another result of this, which greatly affected my self-esteem, was that my clothes no longer fit and were hanging off of me, and I can't afford to go buy a new wardrobe. I bought a couple new things for summer and find that just looking in the mirror and seeing myself in size-appropriate clothes makes me feel much better. It's been a rocky road and I still have a ways to go. I'm still allergic to wheat and soy but one step and one treatment at a time. What I would like to know is 'Why?' all of a sudden this happened....

Thanks for sharing your story, KDE! I hope that this program can continue to better your life. Hopefully we can understand allergies as science progresses... there's so much we don't know!
