Welcome to my Hub on Elko, Nevada! I moved to Elko in 1989 during the big Gold Rush (yes they still happen), I was 7 then. Over the past twenty years I have learned much about this towns' history and culture.

Elko, Nevada is a small town of about 30,000 people, located in Northeastern Nevada. Over 700 miles away from Las Vegas and over 300 miles away from Reno. Some say we are in the middle of nowhere, but I prefer to realize that we are in the middle of everything.

We are not confined to the options of and scenes of one city, instead we can travel a couple of hours and find ourselves in Salt Lake City, Utah; Reno, Nevada; Boise, Idaho or numerous other smaller cities.

Through this Hub I want to share the history and attractions of Elko, Nevada. I have written a few articles on my hometown which you can below. Also, I have included links to some important places in Elko such as the Elko Daily Free Press, the Elko Visitors Association and the Chamber of Commerce.

Next time your driving through Nevada on I-80 stop in and say Hi!

I'm glad to see your link to Elko's Honorary Mayor Bing Crosby here. Bing loved Elko and tried to make sure his sons with Dixie Lee learned about the "real world" by spending lots of time in Elko and away from the Hollywood scene. It's unfortunate that the Northeastern Nevada Museum in Elko recently downsized and moved their Bing Crosby Exhibition. Bing's fans, including me, would like to see it restored -- and even expanded. Elko should be proud that such a great celebrity was one of their own.
